Cast Update 9-18-2016

Well, the post you are about to read is the new focus of this blog for the near future and possibly for the rest of this blog's existence. I am also changing the blog back to sporadic random monthly updates instead of every Sunday as you have been seeing. I'll be back sometime next month with the next update. I also wish that I could see all of the Emmys tonight with good reception, but I'm not able to so the result of whether or not The Good Wife wins tonight will be revealed in the next post. I honestly don't know if that category has already been done as of this post. Anyways, I'll be back later with more updates.

Welcome to the first of many cast updates of the Good Wife cast and creators. This will be updated at least once a month as a bare minimum. I will tell you what shows and movies the cast is now on. I will review what I can of those. Consider the blog for the future to be a where are they now blog. There might be other random things I mention in this blog as well. But I’ll do my best to make it about where the cast is now as much as possible. From the next post onward, I will post any new information in comic sans ms instead of Calibri (body). Plus, I’ll also keep you update on my potential collection of The Good Wife DVDs pending with a look back on the whole series.

Before I get to the updates, I might as well tell you that a potential spin-off of the Good Wife is in the works. I’m not sure the name of it yet. But it will be available online at www.cbs.com for those that use CBS all access. I might even start a blog about it in the future. But I’ll only do that if the show comes out on DVD. I’m not paying for all access. It will largely focus on Diane Lockhart. You will see more information about this throughout the updates. I don’t know how they will release it. It could be one new episode a week or they could release them all at once. We’ll see what happens.

Spin-off information- There doesn’t seem to be much revealed about this show at the time. I’m not sure myself what to say about it since I don’t even know the name it has sense they haven’t revealed it. I am going to call it Untitled Good Wife Spin-off in the meantime until such time as a name is revealed. I’ll also be sure to point out when it comes to DVD (if it comes to DVD at all, that is) so I can write about it then and create a blog about it. More info about this will follow in the next paragraph and under other people’s updates. You will see a lot of updates to the show. Now, I will be able to see the first episode when it airs on TV (knock on wood), so I can blog on that episode as a review. This is good in that I won’t actually have to watch the whole show if I don’t like it. Although, I hope that I do like it and can get the show on DVD in the future.

Untitled Good Wife spin-off: It appears that nothing much is known about the show right now as it doesn’t even have a name. It will be put on www.cbs.com and be available to watch on CBS all access to those that want it. It will be released sometime in February 2017. More information will be revealed about it in the future.

Emmy update: In regards to award shows, I don’t know whether or not there is anything else important to note the works of TV shows than this or the Golden Globes. The point is, I won’t care about any other awards shows besides those two when it comes to TV shows. Anyways, The Good Wife episode End was nominated for outstanding writing for a drama series. I’ll let you know if it wins or not, but not until the next update.

Julianna Margulies: It appears that the main actress has a movie project in the works. It is called The Three Christs of Ypsilanti. I’m not sure how it sounds just yet, but I’m not sure that it’s something that I would like. There is not a specific release date for it yet, but I will tell you more about it in the next paragraph. This appears to be the only thing that she is doing right now.

The Three Christs of Ypsilanti: This is a movie in preproduction that will be released sometime in 2018. Apparently, a doctor, who I think is played by Julianna, has to deal with three patients who all think that they are Christ due to a mental problem that they all have. I don’t think that I would like it, but I’d have to see it to know for sure.

Josh Charles: This actor left The Good Wife during a season instead of at the end of it. Typically, one doesn’t leave a show and then do nothing so I hope that he’s been busy. Well, he has at least three projects in the works, according to imdb. The first is called The Drowning. I can’t gather much from that just yet. But it does appear that Amateur, a sports movie, is something that I can find more information about. Another project mentioned has a long title and is called Norman: The Moderate Rise and Tragic Fall of a New York Fixer. Hopefully all of these get made and released.

The Drowning: This looks like a movie of some sort. It does not have a release date or trailer just yet. At least it is planned to be released later in 2016. I don’t have a quick synopsis of the movie yet, but it is a thriller and drama of some sort so it might be good, if it does get made. This is labeled as postproduction at the time.

Amateur: Like the previous movie, this does not have a trailer or release date yet. This one is still listed as filming, so hopefully it can be released and finished sometime later in 2016 when it is set to be released. This is a basketball drama and it appears to be a coming of age drama as well. Can a young player fit in with a new team?

Norman: The Moderate Rise and Tragic Fall of a New York Fixer: While this is mentioned as a movie for this year, it seems to have a release date of March 2017. We’ll see if either of those end up happening, or if it gets a more specific March release date. That’s what these updates are for! There is no trailer for it yet and is listed as being in postproduction. It is hard to make sense of the plot just now, but it appears to be a political thriller of some type.

Graham Phillips: I honestly wasn’t sure if he’d still be in acting after The Good Wife. I didn’t know if he was wanting to focus more on furthering his education by going to college or if he was just going to go to some other job outside of acting. For now, this actor has a movie in him that you might have seen me talk about in my CSI: Cyber blog. That movie is called XOXO and is available to watch on Netflix right now. I just don’t know if I can get a review of this just yet. That’s the only current project that I notice for him right now.

XOXO: This movie is about six people sharing some strange romantic night of some sort. It looks like a romantic drama of some sort. The release date for it is August 26, 2016, meaning that it should be out now as of this update. I’m not sure if I’m going to be able to see it since it appears to be a Netflix exclusive. I don’t know if it will ever be available on DVD for me to watch without Netflix. I’ll check back later for more updates. I also hope to find a guest reviewer for this movie or hope that it would be available to rent sometime at my video store. I’m not getting Netflix just to watch this. There is a trailer for the movie now.

Thoughts on trailer: It looks like an interesting trailer. I’d have to say that it was a vague trailer of some sort. I can’t tell yet if it is one of those famous controversial trailers that make a movie look better than it is. I’m not entirely sure if I have seen one of those. Anyways, it looks like the movie is a fairly normal movie of some sort although it might have some weird parts to it. The trailer does make me interested in seeing the movie. I hope that it’s not a misleading trailer.

Now is the point where I should post a review of the movie, but I can’t as I am not able to watch this. If anyone reading this is able to see the movie and wants to do a review of it, then let me know. In fact, if you want to do that, then just comment on this post. In the meantime, I’ll see if it ever gets released to DVD so I can actually watch it out of Netflix.

Archie Panjabi: This actress did a lot after leaving the show. Sadly, it looks like she isn’t working on any current projects right now. The last thing that she did was a foreign show miniseries called Power Monkeys. It appears that everything she’s done since leaving the Good Wife is over now or wouldn’t use her again, so I hope that you see something from her in the next update. She will be in the show Blindspot in the future, but it appears that it will not be a starring role at the moment. It looks like she would have been in a show called The Jury, but that did not become a show. I’ll have to check on Blindspot to see if her role is big enough or not. If it is, I will include the show here. If not, I will just mention her recurring role in it.

Christine Baranski: After rejecting various pilots and other projects in the hopes of getting a spin-off from the Good Wife, she got what was wanted and will be on a Good Wife spin-off. It will only be available on CBS All Access (and hopefully DVDs in the future) so it will not be something I’m able to watch at first. I just wish I knew what the name of the spin-off is. It seems that she’s doing something else as well. In addition to the Untitled Good Wife spin-off, she also did a movie called Trolls which is pretty far along into the development process that it looks we will be seeing it.

Untitled Good Wife spin-off: It appears that nothing much is known about the show right now as it doesn’t even have a name. It will be put on www.cbs.com and be available to watch on CBS all access to those that want it. It will be released sometime in February 2017. More information will be revealed about it in the future.

Trolls: This is an animated movie which is hard to tell the plot of for sure right now. It appears to be about the happy trolls and their enemies the pessimist Bergens who like to eat trolls. Upon future inspection, it appears that most of the trolls go missing and there’s a quest to get them back. This movie will be released on November 4th, 2016. We’ll see if it becomes a hit or not.

Thoughts on trailer: Some animated films look weirder than others. This is certainly could be good, although there are worries of mine that it could be a misleading film. Now you typically don’t see kid’s movies addressing the missing person’s storyline. I don’t know why I find missing persons stories to be so interesting, but I do hope that it’s as good as it looks.

Matt Czuchry: Besides The Good Wife, this actor was known for another TV show: Gilmore Girls. They are coming back with a sequel miniseries of that called Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. That seems to be the only future project of his at the moment.

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life: This will be on Netflix and I probably wouldn’t have watched this if it aired on a format I could see simply because I was never into this show when it first aired. I might like it or might not. I honestly don’t know for sure. With luck, I can get someone else to review this when it debuts on Netflix on November 25th, 2016. That seems like an odd time to debut it. Won’t we all be busy with Thanksgiving and stuff that time? Oh, well. It’s not like we will have to see it then.

Thoughts on trailer: I hope that a better trailer is released in the future as this offers pretty much little to no information about the show. Maybe a future trailer could make it look better. It doesn’t look all that interesting based off of this one.

I have a friend who has the first season of Gilmore Girls on DVD. While I expect the reboot to be different in some ways, you can expect a review of the show in the future. First, I need an empty space on my list of shows to watch. Since I’m borrowing it, this will actually replace what could have been the next in line. I have far too much to watch of shows on DVD and not enough time to watch them.

Makenzie Vega: She has been working since The Good Wife ended. There was a TV movie that she did for the Chiller TV channel. I’m going to consider that a past project that I already missed. It looks like she will be doing another TV movie that is also a thriller called Heart of Murder. I’m not sure what else she is doing now besides that.

Heart of Murder: This movie sounds interesting, if it gets made. Sorry if I seem like a bummer about whether or not something gets made, but 95% of films that have a sold script are never produced into actual films. Anyways, in this film, it appears to be about someone who got a heart transplant by a cousin of theirs who may have been killed. It is listed in postproduction and coming out this year, although it doesn’t seem to have a release date or a trailer yet. Hopefully this will be out sometime in 2016. I’m not sure what network it is airing on, but I can do more research for the next update.

Alan Cumming: Here’s an actor who’s known for starring in Broadway plays and productions. Perhaps you have seen him on the Tony Awards that you always watch because you can’t afford to see Broadway any other way. It looks like he has a lot of future projects in the works. There’s at least three for me to track right now. The first one is called The Surrealist. Another movie that he’s doing in the future is Battle of the Sexes. The last of the movies that I see him in is After Louie. That’s a lot of projects to look out for in the future.

The Surrealist: This appears to be a scripted movie regarding an artist named Salvador Dali. This appears to be based off of a true story. It looks like he has issues with his wife over his obsession with the Mona Lisa. There is no release date or trailer for the movie, and it appears that it doesn’t so much as have a single year of release on it just yet. The movie is listed as being in preproduction so it has a long way to go before we know more about it.

Battle of the Sexes: This is listed as being in postproduction right now. This is also based off of a true story regarding a tennis match between Billie Jean King and Bobbie Riggs. It has no trailer or release date as of yet, but it should be coming out in 2017. We’ll see what happens with that.

After Louie: I know so little about this movie right now. I can hopefully find out more about it in my next update. Anyways, it is in postproduction. It is a drama of some sort. It appears to relate to being gay and stuff like that. Hopefully more can be added to the plot than just a tagline. There is no release date or trailer, but it should be out in 2017 sometime.

Zach Grenier: After guest starring in episodes of BrainDead, it appears that he is acting in a movie of some sort. I can only find those two things right now. Of course, we’ll see for sure what else will happen with him in the future. The movie he will be in is currently called Untitled Colin Warner Project. I hope that it gets a name sooner rather than later.

Untitled Colin Warner Project: This is another wrongfully convicted of murder movie that you see from time to time. It is set to be released sometime in 2017. There is no trailer or actual release date just yet for this. It is listed as in postproduction so hopefully it can get a name and be good for the future.

Matthew Goode: In case any of you were wondering, I have no idea which way to order the cast in for these updates and I don’t know if this guy should be higher or lower on the cast update or not. But that’s not the point. Ever since he left his mostly meaningless role on The Good Wife (I have nothing against the actor, but they never did as much as they could have with this character), he has been doing a lot of projects. Well, I might as well get to mentioning all of them. The first project is a movie called Allied, set for release in November. The other projects he’s done are The Hatton Garden Job, Magik, and Roadside Picnic. And that’s all just after the show ended and not since he left it.

Allied: This looks like a World War II movie, but based off of a made up story instead of a real one. I’ll do research to see what of the two it is. It does have a release date of November 23rd, 2016 and there’s a trailer released of it, so hopefully there isn’t any delays in its future.

Thoughts on trailer: I can’t gather much from the trailer just yet, but it looks like a fairly interesting movie. I would want to see it, although I personally try to avoid any movies with nudity in them. I want to keep some mystery around for when I hopefully eventually get married. I honestly can’t tell yet if there will be nudity or if they are just teasing us with it like network television does. Anyways, I am interested in seeing this movie, although I’m not sure when I’ll have time that time of year.

The Hatton Garden Job: Geez, it appears that I know next to nothing about this movie from just imdb alone. Its news feature said that filming was underway in June and that it is set for release sometime in December 2016 in the UK. Does that mean that someone in the US like me won’t be able to watch it? I can’t tell a plot of it yet, except that it is listed as the crime genre and job in the title implies some sort of heist. But what could you rob at a garden? I’ll have to do more research for my next post. It has no trailer for it released just yet and is mentioned as being in postproduction on the site.

Magik: This is an animated movie in the fantasy genre. It looks like it will be a Canadian film. There is no trailer for it yet, but there is a release date of December 25th, 2016. So it looks like it is one of the many Christmas releases that some movies probably lean for. This is in postproduction according to imdb. The plot relates to a father visiting an alternate world to find his missing kids.

Roadside Picnic: Here’s a science fiction show of some sort that was considered by the WGN network to be a show. Last I checked, it was in preproduction for release later in 2016. In the show, there are different supernatural zones affects by a former alien visit. What I can’t tell just yet is if the show is actually moving forward, or if this was rejected as a pilot. I have the feeling that it was actually rejected as a pilot, but we’ll see more for sure about that in the future.

Cush Jumbo: In addition to doing the Untitled Good Wife spin-off, there’s at least one other project that she is doing, a short called Toads & Bluebottles. There was another project of hers after the Good Wife, but I’m not sure if that’s something that I missed already or not. I’m not entirely sure if it is an official go-ahead or not.

Untitled Good Wife spin-off: It appears that nothing much is known about the show right now as it doesn’t even have a name. It will be put on www.cbs.com and be available to watch on CBS all access to those that want it. It will be released sometime in February 2017. More information will be revealed about it in the future.

Toads & Bluebottles: This is going to be a ten minute short to be released sometime in 2017. There’s no trailer or release date for this just yet. I’m not sure how to see most shorts. If they are like Night of the Doctor, you can find it on youtube. But I think that most of them are hard to come by. I don’t know what this is about as there is no plot for it mentioned.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan: It appears that there is a bit of a goof with imdb when I went looking for a project of his. It’s a good thing that I looked at the coming soon section or I wouldn’t have noticed a new movie he’s in called Desierto. I’ll tell you more about it.

Desierto: This is a thriller, by the looks of it. It is about people trying to cross from Mexico to America, but they encounter a huge problem: a racist man who wants to kill them. Jeffrey is playing the main villain by the looks of it. It is set for release on October 14, 2016.

Thoughts on trailer: I’m honestly not sure if I would be interested in this or not were it not up to me to review what I can of shows and movies of The Good Wife alumni. That’s not to say that it would be bad, it just wouldn’t be my type of film. It looks interesting and dramatic. I’m not sure what expectations I’d have going into it. But I will watch it and hope that I like it.

Robert King: Here is where we switch to writing credits. There is a summer show that features the writing talents of him and his wife. That show is called BrainDead. It appears that he is also helping with the Untitled Good Wife spin-off as well.

Untitled Good Wife spin-off: It appears that nothing much is known about the show right now as it doesn’t even have a name. It will be put on www.cbs.com and be available to watch on CBS all access to those that want it. It will be released sometime in February 2017. More information will be revealed about it in the future.

BrainDead: This is a political CBS drama that has aired originally on Mondays at 10/9 Central and has now switched to Sundays at 10/9 Central before ending the first season last week. I do not yet know if it will return for next summer or not. It didn’t look likely before it moved to the worst timeslot on television. We’ll see.

Review: BrainDead: Show Description- A political drama with supernatural twists, this show steals from Invasion of the Body Snatchers by having alien bugs taking over the brains of politicians. This replaces Under the Dome. Behind the Scenes- Robert King and Michelle King, who both created The Good Wife, are the creators of this show as well. Tony Shaloub, who is most notable for Monk, is a character on the show. My Thoughts- The show is interesting and different. While it may point out some of what is wrong with the writers who created it, it also shows what is nice about them. The show may be slow moving and built around a mystery that might not be revealed. It can be strange. But I feel that it is worth watching. I give it three out of five stars. Long Term Prospects- I honestly don’t have high hopes for it right now. I could be wrong, but I don’t see it lasting. Where to Find- Mondays at 10/9 Central on CBS

Michelle King: Since she is married to the previous person, it would appear that she would probably have the same projects in the works as her husband. This section may be redundant since any similar projects that these people have would be the same thing and thus have the same information. She has worked on BrainDead and the Untitled Good Wife spin-off.

Untitled Good Wife spin-off: It appears that nothing much is known about the show right now as it doesn’t even have a name. It will be put on www.cbs.com and be available to watch on CBS all access to those that want it. It will be released sometime in February 2017. More information will be revealed about it in the future.
