Here
is the next update regarding the cast of The Good Wife. You will see any new
information in comic sans ms and any old or unchanged information will be
Calibri (body). You do have to wonder if I have a font fascination like Brick
from The Middle does. Anyways, first I’ll mention any new things that I know
about the Good Wife spin-off before going to the rest of the people in the
cast. While I will be able (hopefully) to see the first episode on TV, there is
no way that I’m spending my money on CBS all access, but I would be willing to
get the new show on DVD (if I like it, of course). Honestly, I may have to keep
a special planned post of the episode ready to be published because if I do get
it on DVD, I will be starting a brand new blog to go with it. Now let’s get to
any new news about it then the rest of the cast.
Spin-off
information- It appears that in addition to Christine Baranski and Cush Jumbo,
another person known from the Good Wife will be on the show. Sarah Steele, who
played the sarcastic daughter of Eli Gold (a character whose name I’d have to
look up to remember more) will have an important role in the show that may be
looking for the next Kalinda (but not the male kind who would sleep with
Alicia). I do wonder if they will focus some on what happened on the Good Wife
or if they will focus more on making this a new show. Maybe there will be some
link-ups here and there, but I’d have to guess that Alicia would pretty much be
dead to Diane after the finale. We can speculate until whenever in February it
premieres. Until then, we’ll just have to wait.
Untitled Good Wife spin-off: It appears that nothing much
is known about the show right now as it doesn’t even have a name. It will be
put on www.cbs.com and be available to watch
on CBS all access to those that want it. It will be released sometime in February
2017. More information will be revealed about it in the future. ***
Emmy
update: Well, it is not a surprise to me at all to learn that End did not win
an Emmy. It lost to Battle of the Bastards from Game of Thrones. I’ll see later
if the Golden Globes give this show any love or not, but you won’t see any
mention of that until December, if you even get information about that at all.
Julianna Margulies: It appears
that the main actress has a movie project in the works. It is called The
Three Christs of Ypsilanti. I’m not sure how it sounds just yet, but I’m
not sure that it’s something that I would like. There is nothing else new to
report.
The Three Christs of
Ypsilanti: This is a movie in preproduction that will be released sometime in 2018.
Apparently, a doctor, who I think is played by Julianna, has to deal with three
patients who all think that they are Christ due to a mental problem that they
all have. I don’t think that I would like it, but I’d have to see it to know
for sure. That was the original
plotline, but now a new one mentions a man leaving his job to go ballet
dancing? What? That doesn’t sound right given the name. I’ll have to look up
more information about this for the next update.
Josh Charles: This actor left
The Good Wife during a season instead of at the end of it. Typically, one
doesn’t leave a show and then do nothing so I hope that he’s been busy. Well,
he has at least three projects in the works, according to imdb. The first is
called The Drowning. I can’t gather much from that just yet. But it does
appear that Amateur, a sports movie, is something that I can find more
information about. Another project mentioned has a long title and is called Norman:
The Moderate Rise and Tragic Fall of a New York Fixer. Hopefully all of
these get made and released.
The
Drowning: This looks like a movie of some sort. It does not have a release date
or trailer just yet. At least it is planned to be released later in 2016.
I don’t have a quick synopsis of the movie yet, but it is a thriller and drama
of some sort so it might be good, if it does get made. This is labeled as
postproduction at the time. More information about the movie proves that is it
based off of a book called Border Crossing, which is also the name of what the
movie was called at one point before they switched it to this. The plot: a man
saves another man from drowning, but realizes that they have a history from ten
years ago.
Amateur: Like the previous
movie, this does not have a trailer or release date yet. This one is still
listed as filming, so hopefully it can be released and finished sometime later
in 2016 when it is set to be released. This is a basketball drama and it
appears to be a coming of age drama as well. Can a young player fit in with a
new team?
Norman:
The Moderate Rise and Tragic Fall of a New York Fixer: While this is mentioned
as a movie for this year, it seems to have a release date of March 2017.
It has an rating on imdb as it must have played at some film festival before an
official release to the public. To be clear, though, I have no idea what’s
going on with the movie at the moment as there is still not a trailer for it or
an official release date. I don’t need to mention the plot of it as it seems to
be explained well in the title. Hopefully all will make sense in the future as
I do more research for future updates.
Graham Phillips: I honestly
wasn’t sure if he’d still be in acting after The Good Wife. I didn’t know if he
was wanting to focus more on furthering his education by going to college or if
he was just going to go to some other job outside of acting. For now, this
actor has a movie in him that you might have seen me talk about in my CSI:
Cyber blog. That movie is called XOXO and is available to watch on
Netflix right now. I just don’t know if I can get a review of this just yet.
That’s the only current project that I notice for him right now.
XOXO: This movie is about six people sharing some strange
romantic night of some sort. It looks like a romantic drama of some sort. It
should be out now as of this update. I’m not sure if I’m going to be able
to see it since it appears to be a Netflix exclusive. I don’t know if it will
ever be available on DVD for me to watch without Netflix. I’ll check back later
for more updates. I also hope to find a guest reviewer for this movie or hope
that it would be available to rent sometime at my video store. I’m not getting
Netflix just to watch this. There is a trailer for the movie now.
Trailer link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUN5uSu_VQM
Thoughts on trailer: It looks like an interesting trailer.
I’d have to say that it was a vague trailer of some sort. I can’t tell yet if
it is one of those famous controversial trailers that make a movie look better
than it is. I’m not entirely sure if I have seen one of those. Anyways, it
looks like the movie is a fairly normal movie of some sort although it might
have some weird parts to it. The trailer does make me interested in seeing the
movie. I hope that it’s not a misleading trailer.
Now is the point where I should
post a review of the movie, but I can’t as I am not able to watch this. If
anyone reading this is able to see the movie and wants to do a review of it,
then let me know. In fact, if you want to do that, then just comment on this
post. In the meantime, I’ll see if it ever gets released to DVD so I can
actually watch it out of Netflix.
Archie Panjabi: This actress
did a lot after leaving the show. Sadly, it looks like she isn’t working on any
current projects right now. The last thing that she did was a foreign show
miniseries called Power Monkeys. She will be in the show Blindspot in
the future, but it appears that it will not be a starring role at the moment.
I’ll have to check on Blindspot to see if her role is big enough or not. If it
is, I will include the show here. If not, I will just mention her recurring
role in it. That shows airs at 8/7 Central on Mondays on NBC.
Christine Baranski: After
rejecting various pilots and other projects in the hopes of getting a spin-off
from the Good Wife, she got what was wanted and will be on a Good Wife
spin-off. It will only be available on CBS All Access (and hopefully DVDs in
the future) so it will not be something I’m able to watch at first. I just wish
I knew what the name of the spin-off is. It seems that she’s doing something
else as well. In addition to the Untitled Good Wife spin-off, she also
did a movie called Trolls which is pretty far along into the development
process that it looks we will be seeing it.
Trolls: This is an animated
movie which is hard to tell the plot of for sure right now. It appears to be
about the happy trolls and their enemies the pessimist Bergens who like to eat
trolls. Upon future inspection, it appears that most of the trolls go missing
and there’s a quest to get them back. This movie will be released on November
4th, 2016. We’ll see if it becomes a hit or not.
Trailer link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXrm5eU6HtY
Thoughts on trailer: Some
animated films look weirder than others. This is certainly could be good,
although there are worries of mine that it could be a misleading film. Now you
typically don’t see kid’s movies addressing the missing person’s storyline. I
don’t know why I find missing persons stories to be so interesting, but I do
hope that it’s as good as it looks.
Matt Czuchry: Besides The Good
Wife, this actor was known for another TV show: Gilmore Girls. They are coming
back with a sequel miniseries of that called Gilmore Girls: A Year in the
Life. That seems to be the only future project of his at the moment.
Gilmore Girls: A Year in the
Life: This will be on Netflix and I probably wouldn’t have watched this if it
aired on a format I could see simply because I was never into this show when it
first aired. I might like it or might not. I honestly don’t know for sure. With
luck, I can get someone else to review this when it debuts on Netflix on November
25th, 2016. That seems like an odd time to debut it. Won’t we
all be busy with Thanksgiving and stuff that time? Oh, well. It’s not like we
will have to see it then.
Trailer link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTnU5MG5Edw
Thoughts on trailer: I hope
that a better trailer is released in the future as this offers pretty much little
to no information about the show. Maybe a future trailer could make it look
better. It doesn’t look all that interesting based off of this one.
I have a friend who has the
first season of Gilmore Girls on DVD. While I expect the reboot to be different
in some ways, you can expect a review of the show in the future. First, I need
an empty space on my list of shows to watch. Since I’m borrowing it, this will
actually replace what could have been the next in line. I have far too much to
watch of shows on DVD and not enough time to watch them.
Review of original Gilmore
Girls: (Coming soon, but not this update)
Makenzie Vega: She has been
working since The Good Wife ended. There was a TV movie that she did for the
Chiller TV channel. I’m going to consider that a past project that I already
missed. It looks like she will be doing another TV movie that is also a
thriller called Heart of Murder. I’m not sure what else she is doing now
besides that.
Heart of Murder: This movie
sounds interesting, if it gets made. Sorry if I seem like a bummer about
whether or not something gets made, but 95% of films that have a sold script
are never produced into actual films. Anyways, in this film, it appears to be
about someone who got a heart transplant by a cousin of theirs who may have
been killed. It is listed in postproduction and coming out this year, although
it doesn’t seem to have a release date or a trailer yet. Hopefully this will be
out sometime in 2016. I cannot find information about this easily so,
hopefully, I can find out more about this in future updates cause it certainly
won’t be this one.
Alan Cumming: Here’s an actor
who’s known for starring in Broadway plays and productions. Perhaps you have
seen him on the Tony Awards that you always watch because you can’t afford to
see Broadway any other way. It looks like he has a lot of future projects in
the works. There’s at least three for me to track right now. The first one is
called The Surrealist. Another movie that he’s doing in the future is Battle
of the Sexes. The last of the movies that I see him in is After Louie.
That’s a lot of projects to look out for in the future.
The Surrealist: This appears
to be a scripted movie regarding an artist named Salvador Dali. This appears to
be based off of a true story. It looks like he has issues with his wife over
his obsession with the Mona Lisa. There is no release date or trailer
for the movie, and it appears that it doesn’t so much as have a single year of
release on it just yet. The movie is listed as being in preproduction so it has
a long way to go before we know more about it. There
might be some pushback with the project as it no longer seems available with
the same information on imbd. It is still on the site, but it seems to be more
secretive than it used to be. Can there be secrets on the internet? Well, I
guess there’s the deep web. Anyways, I’ll have to do more research about this
for my next update.
Battle of the Sexes: This is
listed as being in postproduction right now. This is also based off of a true
story regarding a tennis match between Billie Jean King and Bobbie Riggs. It
has no trailer or release date as of yet, but it should be coming out in 2017.
We’ll see what happens with that.
After Louie: This movie is in
postproduction. It is a drama of some sort. It appears to relate to being gay
and how it has changed as of today. There is no release date or trailer for it
yet, but it should be out in 2017 sometime.
Zach Grenier: After guest
starring in episodes of BrainDead, it appears that he is acting in a movie of
some sort. I can only find those two things right now. Of course, we’ll see for
sure what else will happen with him in the future. The movie he will be in is
currently called Untitled Colin Warner Project. I hope that it gets a
name sooner rather than later.
Untitled Colin Warner Project:
This is another wrongfully convicted of murder movie that you see from time to
time. It is set to be released sometime in 2017. There is no trailer or
actual release date just yet for this. It is listed as in postproduction so
hopefully it can get a name and be good for the future.
Matthew Goode: He has been
doing a lot of projects since leaving The Good Wife. I might as well get to
mentioning all of them. The first project is a movie called Allied, set
for release in November. The other projects he’s done are The Hatton Garden
Job, Magik, and Roadside Picnic. And that’s all just after
the show ended and not since he left it.
Allied: This looks like a
World War II movie, but based off of a made up story instead of a real one.
I’ll do research to see what of the two it is. It does have a release date of November
23rd, 2016 and there’s a trailer released of it, so hopefully
there isn’t any delays in its future.
Trailer link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22PY59GHQgU
Thoughts on trailer: I can’t
gather much from the trailer just yet, but it looks like a fairly interesting
movie. I would want to see it, although I personally try to avoid any movies
with nudity in them. I want to keep some mystery around for when I hopefully
eventually get married. I honestly can’t tell yet if there will be nudity or if
they are just teasing us with it like network television does. Anyways, I am
interested in seeing this movie, although I’m not sure when I’ll have time that
time of year.
The
Hatton Garden Job: The movie is now in postproduction and set for release
sometime in December 2016 in the UK. Does that mean that someone in the
US like me won’t be able to watch it? It has no trailer for it released just
yet. More research into it reveals the plot: it is based off of a true story of
a heist in London that happened just last year. There are two other potential
projects about the same heist. If this is made first, you’ll have to wonder if
the others will see the light of day.

Magik: This is an animated
movie in the fantasy genre. It looks like it will be a Canadian film. There is
no trailer for it yet, but there is a release date of December 25th,
2016. So it looks like it is one of the many Christmas releases that some
movies probably lean for. This is in postproduction according to imdb. The plot
relates to a father visiting an alternate world to find his missing kids.
Roadside Picnic: Here’s a
science fiction show of some sort that was considered by the WGN network to be
a show. Last I checked, it was in preproduction for release later in 2016.
In the show, there are different supernatural zones affects by a former alien
visit. What I can’t tell just yet is if the show is actually moving forward, or
if this was rejected as a pilot. I have the feeling that it was actually
rejected as a pilot, but we’ll see more for sure about that in the future. I cannot find any information about it in
terms of whether or not the pilot was picked up yet so this will still have its
own section until it can be decided by me whether or not it is moving forward.
Cush Jumbo: In addition to
doing the Untitled Good Wife spin-off, there’s at least one other
project that she is doing, a short called Toads & Bluebottles. There
was another project of hers after the Good Wife, but I’m not sure if that’s
something that I missed already or not. I’m not entirely sure if it is an
official go-ahead or not.
Toads
& Bluebottles: This is going to be a ten minute short to be released
sometime in 2017. There’s no trailer or release date for this just yet.
I’m not sure how to see most shorts. I think that most of them are hard to come
by. It is listed as in preproduction. I was able to find the plot: it’s an
animated story about imaginary people doing a life journey in just ten minutes.
Will it be good? I have no idea. I’d have to see it, or at least a trailer for
it, to know for sure.
Jeffrey
Dean Morgan: It appears that he’s in a new movie called Desierto. Now I
was confused about whether or not it was a new release. Turn out, it was a
foreign film and some people would have already seen it. But the North American
release of the film has yet to happen.
Desierto:
This is a thriller, by the looks of it. It is about people trying to cross from
Mexico to America, but they encounter a huge problem: a racist man who wants to
kill them. Jeffrey is playing the main villain by the looks of it. It is set
for release on October 14, 2016. It was already released in Mexico,
although it will be released for American audiences for the first time on that
day.
Trailer link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEt8Mhya3vI
Thoughts on trailer: I’m
honestly not sure if I would be interested in this or not were it not up to me
to review what I can of shows and movies of The Good Wife alumni. That’s not to
say that it would be bad, it just wouldn’t be my type of film. It looks
interesting and dramatic. I’m not sure what expectations I’d have going into
it. But I will watch it and hope that I like it.
Robert King: Here is where we
switch to writing credits. There was a summer show that features the writing
talents of him and his wife. That show is called BrainDead. It appears
that he is also helping with the Untitled Good Wife spin-off as well.
Until there is news of renewal or cancellation of BrainDead, there won’t be
much to talk about here except for The Good Wife spin-off. There is nothing
else new to report.
BrainDead:
This is a political CBS drama that aired during the summer of 2016. I do not
yet know if it will return for next summer or not. It didn’t look likely before
it moved to the worst timeslot on television. We’ll see. If it returns or
doesn’t, you’ll see updates here. Until then, I’ll just mention it in this blog
until news there is news regarding a potential season 2.
Review:
BrainDead: Status- It aired one
season during the summer and is currently unknown whether or not it is coming
back for more seasons. Why I’ve seen it- I was generally interested in the
show, I tend to always watch a new show on CBS, and since it features a link to
The Good Wife, I had to watch it once to review for my other blog. Description-
A political drama with supernatural twists, this show steals from Invasion of
the Body Snatchers by having alien bugs taking over the brains of politicians.
Notable People- Robert King and Michelle King, who both created The Good Wife,
are the creators of this show as well. Tony Shaloub, who is most notable for
Monk, is a character on the show. Pros- The show is interesting and different.
Not much about it has been used elsewhere. Cons- The show is slow moving and
can be strange. It doesn’t always make sense. Note to Parents- While this
certainly isn’t too bad, I would have to recommend against preteens and younger
watching this. Recommendation- I would say that this is pretty good to watch,
even after a possible slight cliffhanger. Prediction- Right now we are in the
waiting game period of whether or not the show returns for the next summer
season. If it doesn’t, then that means that it was cancelled unless it really
is officially cancelled before then. If, however, a renewal is announced, I’ll
be sure to post that here. I don’t have high hopes for a renewal, so we’ll see
if I’m right or wrong about that. Reception: generally favorable. Grade: B-.
Michelle King: Since she is
married to the previous person, it would appear that she would probably have
the same projects in the works as her husband. This section may be redundant
since any similar projects that these people have would be the same thing and
thus have the same information. She has worked on BrainDead and the Untitled
Good Wife spin-off. There is nothing else new to report.
