Cast Update 8-8-2017

I have come to realize that doing these updates are only going to get more and more confusing as time goes on. Also, I’m going to have to wait until the third season of Blindspot premieres before I know whether or not Archie will have any role in it or not. It seemed like it could go either way after I watched the season finale. At least it will air at a better time for me to watch it this coming season. I am hoping that The Good Fight will be on DVD at some point (I can even start a probably meaningless online petition to do that), but I might have to be okay with me not being able to watch it. I can’t see the South Korean version of The Good Wife either. I might care, but know that I wouldn’t blog about it if it doesn’t come with an English language track. That would just be far too tedious for me to try to do.

Spin-off information- My review of the spin-off will follow later in this post. It will probably stay for as long as the show is still on. If the show leaves the air, then I’ll probably cut it. I do plan on creating a new blog for it in the future. I guess that I will just have to keep you updated on when it might be released in the future.

Julianna Margulies: It appears that the main actress has a movie project in the works. It is called Three Christs. I’m not sure how it sounds just yet, but I’m not sure that it’s something that I would like. She’s also in another new movie called Untouchable.

Three Christs: This is a movie in preproduction that will be released sometime in 2018. Apparently, a doctor, has to deal with three patients who all think that they are Christ due to a mental problem that they all have. Will it mock religion or be more serious? I found out that this is based off of a real life case of people with schizophrenia.

Untouchable: The plot that imdb has for this sounds very strange. Apparently a former criminal and a wealthy person in a wheelchair have some sort of comedic relationship. It doesn’t have a trailer yet, but it does have a release date of March 9, 2018. I guess we’ll see what, if anything, comes from it.

Josh Charles: He has at least two projects in the works, according to imdb. It looks like he will appear in Amateur, a sports movie. Another project mentioned is called Norman. Hopefully all of these get made and released. I also learned that he is joining the cast of Law & Order: True Crime.

Amateur: This does not have a trailer or release date yet. This one is still listed as filming, so hopefully it can be released and finished sometime. This is a basketball drama and it appears to be a coming of age drama as well. Can a young player fit in with a new team? It has a year of release: 2017. It doesn’t have a particular date just yet.

Norman: It is out now on DVD. I was able to rent it and see it. My review of it will follow next. I can explain everything about the movie that you would need to know, but just skip to the grade at the end if you don’t care about anything else.

Review: Movie Name- Norman. Genre- It is closest to the political thriller genre minus the thriller part than anything else. Rating- R. It got that for saying the f word more than once and could have pulled of a G rating with a few, minor changes. Description- I couldn’t really tell a plot from this, just that it seemed like a person was wanting to raise money for a certain place while helping various people and being used by another person. The Good Wife Alumni in it- Josh Charles plays a person who the main character briefly interacts with. Pros- The movie tries to do something different. Cons- It has no plot. It doesn’t make any sense. You can’t tell what is going on in any of the film. It is far too confusing. Note to Parents- The only two objectionable things are some swearing like the f word and a character is gay. Recommendation- Do not watch this. It is not worth anyone’s time. IMDB Ranking: 6.6. My Grade: F.

Law & Order: True Crime: I was hoping that I could avoid watching this and don’t yet know if I will be able to see this or not. This will start on September 26, 2017 and air on NBC at 10/9 Central on Tuesdays.

Thoughts on trailer: Well, I wish that I could be more interested in this. But I honestly don’t care about the case. Why did they kill their parents? I don’t care. But the why is what matters. I guess we’ll see later on what interesting things happen in the series. But I doubt I will be interested in it and this trailer doesn’t seem to do much in terms of making me want to watch it.

Graham Phillips: All this time, you kept hearing me, err, reading me talk about XOXO which has been in these updates the whole time I’ve been doing them. Well, now I can finally remove that from the update and talk about the new movie he will be in called The Pact. We’ll see what happens regarding that.

The Pact: This movie has a current release date of April 6, 2018. I’m going to be honest: the plot sounds terrible. It is about fathers trying to stop their daughters from having sex on prom night. People complain that Christian films get made yet there are far too many films based on teen sexuality. I guess we’ll see what ends up happening here. One can hope that the girls don’t have sex.

Archie Panjabi: This actress did a lot after leaving the show. Right now, she is in the show Blindspot. I hope that she is still with Blindspot, although I’m not sure at the moment. I can’t find anything else that she might be doing at the moment.

Blindspot: This show is on summer hiatus right now and should return at some point for its third season. I don’t know when it will start again yet. Archie plays a character who seems to suddenly be helping with the team. A review will follow. Her character is the leader of the team at the moment, although I’m not sure I fully understand how that happened. When it returns, it will air at 8/7 Central on Fridays on NBC. It will return on October 27th, 2017.

Review: Blindspot: Status- Currently on hiatus until next season. Why I’ve seen it- I was interested in the idea of it. Description- For mysterious reasons, a woman has amnesia and tattoos all over her body and there are crimes solved based off of this. Notable People- Archie Panjabi, who was on The Good Wife, is a character on the show. Pros- The show is intriguing and interesting. Cons- The show may seem a bit scatterbrained and it seems like they are trying to do a female version of Jason Bourne. The show can seem similar to other types of dramas in a way. It can also be more violent than it needs to be. Note to Parents- I’d say that this is something that teenagers can watch, but not any younger than that. I think that all the episodes I’ve seen thus far were TV14. Recommendation- I’d say that this is worth watching. Prediction- I’m not sure that I have a high hope for the show at the moment. I could be proven wrong, but nothing NBC airs at this timeslot seems to last. Reception: positive. Grade: B+.

Christine Baranski: After rejecting various pilots and other projects in the hopes of getting a spin-off from the Good Wife, she got what was wanted and will be on a Good Wife spin-off. It will only be available on CBS All Access (and hopefully DVDs in the future). The spin-off is called The Good Fight. She is also working on something new called A Bad Mom’s Christmas.

The Good Fight: It will be put on www.cbs.com and be available to watch on CBS all access to those that want it. It is available now. Expect to see the same review over and over again for whichever people work on this from The Good Wife.

Review: Status- It is available online only at CBS all access. I’ll let you know if it is released on DVD. Why I’ve seen it- If there is something in this blog that I can review, I will. Description- Diane continues her adventures starting from scratch after losing her retirement money and starting at a new firm. Pros- The show is about the same level of quality that you would expect from The Good Wife. Cons- Apparently, there is going to be a lot of nudity in it. Like the original, this show is a bit too confusing. Note to Parents- Your kids would have to pay to watch this online so if they are seeing it, then you hopefully were the ones who let that happen, although I’d lean towards not letting really young people watch this. Recommendation- Since this is only available online for money, I would actually steer clear of this unless you really like the show. I like it, but not enough to shell out too much money for it. Prediction- This could last a while if people keep using the subscription service to watch it. It already has a second season renewal. Reception: critically acclaimed. Grade: B.

Bad Mom’s Christmas: The plot of this movie has three women or girls struggle with their respective mother’s visiting for Christmas. It sounds like it would be part of the more stupid style comedies, so we’ll see if that’s what it is like or not. It could be good or it might not be; I’ll have to see it to know for sure. It has a release date of November 3rd, 2017. There is also a trailer for it now. Also, I’m including the apostrophe in the title even though they seemed to have forgotten it in the real title.

Thoughts on trailer: Well, I’m sure that there were worse films made over the course of time. Given the type of film that it is, I just don’t see it working out that well. Hopefully it can fall on the less dumb side of things. I still haven’t seen the original Bad Moms movie and probably won’t unless this one defies expectations.

Matt Czuchry: All of this time that you’ve seen me doing updates for him in this blog, you only saw me mentioning the reboot of Gilmore Girls. Well, I can finally take that off the update list and report on something new he is finally doing. It is a TV show called The Resident.

The Resident: This will be a show on FOX sometime at midseason. I’m not sure if there’s a better way of putting it than calling it a medical drama, which is what it would be. The main thing that would make it different is it focusing more on medicine than other shows have, according to one description that I read of it. That description may be wrong upon seeing the trailer, although I’d have to see the show to know for sure.

Thoughts on trailer: It seems like there is more to this than what was first known to me. A resident might have witnessed manslaughter, but we’ll see if that becomes more important to the series as it goes along or not. He wants to help people and it is cool that he is playing the main character. This looks interesting as usual, although I do hope that there is less sex here than in the average TV show. We’ll see what happens and I hope that it starts airing sooner rather than later.

Makenzie Vega: She has been working since The Good Wife ended. There’s a TV movie that she did in postproduction called Tomboy. As for any other new projects, I don’t see them just yet. There’s nothing new to report.

Tomboy: This made for TV movie is listed as in postproduction and has neither a release date nor trailer for it just yet. It is something that will be out in 2017 according to imdb. It doesn’t mention so much as a plot to it, so I guess I’ll have to figure that out for future updates. One can guess that a tomboy is central to the plot.

Alan Cumming: Here’s an actor who’s known for starring in Broadway plays and productions. Perhaps you have seen him on the Tony Awards that you always watch because you can’t afford to see Broadway any other way. It looks like he has a lot of future projects in the works. The first one is called The Surrealist. Another movie that he’s doing in the future is Battle of the Sexes. A new one that I’ve noticed is called Show Dogs. That’s a lot of projects to look out for in the future. He is also doing something called Instinct.

The Surrealist: This appears to be a scripted movie regarding an artist named Salvador Dali. This appears to be based off of a true story. It looks like he has issues with his wife over his obsession with the Mona Lisa. There is no release date or trailer for the movie, and it appears that it doesn’t so much as have a single year of release on it just yet. Upon doing more research, it might be in development hell since a source I found with information says that it was planned since at least the fifth upcoming season of The Good Wife. So hopefully something will eventually come of this potential project. I’m not even sure if it belongs in these updates.

Battle of the Sexes: This is listed as being in postproduction right now. This is also based off of a true story regarding a tennis match between Billie Jean King and Bobbie Riggs. It should be coming out on September 22, 2017. It has a trailer.

Thoughts on trailer: Okay, this looks interesting. I hope that I can avoid learning who the winner of the fight is because I really don’t want it to be Bobbie. I also like Emma Stone for the most part, although I wish that I knew what role Alan has in this movie. Will this be more of a drama? That would be a departure from his usual comedy roles. I will not mention how the fight ends if I do learn spoilers before watching it. While I normally don’t watch sports movies, this one does seem pretty interesting.

Show Dogs: This project is listed as filming at the moment. The plot relates to a police dog going undercover in a dog show competition to prevent some sort of disaster from happening. It might be live action, although I can’t tell for sure at the moment. It is more than likely an animated movie. It was planned for release on November 10, 2017, but it appears that there has been a change. Now, I’m only getting a New Zealand release date of January 4, 2018. No idea what’s going on here. I guess I’ll have to wait and find out what happens later.

Instinct: This is a pilot that Alan is working on and it got picked up on CBS for the future. It will appear sometime at midseason, or possibly earlier in the event that something fails early on. I’ll keep you updated as to when it will air in the future.

Zach Grenier: If he’s doing anything, I don’t see it at the moment. Maybe we’ll see more from him in the future over time. Maybe not. He seems to be making guest star appearances a lot. I guess we’ll see what future he has in the business and until then, I’ll just keep him in updates here.

Matthew Goode: He has been doing a lot of projects since leaving The Good Wife. I might as well get to mentioning all of them. A project he’s doing is Magik. Another new project he’s in is called Four Kids and it. And he has yet another new project in the works called Birthmarked. He’s done so much and keeps doing more. Another thing he is appearing in is called Guernsey, which we’ll find out more about later. I’m not sure if he is still in Four Kids and it or Magik. I also don’t know if either of those last two projects are still moving forward. I see him in a mini-series called Ordeal by Innocence as well.

Magik: This is an animated movie in the fantasy genre. It looks like it will be a Canadian film. There is no trailer for it yet. This is in postproduction according to imdb. The plot relates to a father visiting an alternate world to find his missing kids. While the US release date remains unknown, the UK release date is sometime in 2018. Imbd no longer mentions this as a project that Matthew is in. While it looks like the movie is still moving forward, I can’t tell if he is still in this.

Four Kids and it: This looks like another in a line of kids finding some magical creature film. I liked these as a kid, although I’m not sure that I’ll still have the same fondness as an adult. Hopefully I can. There is no trailer of specific release date for it yet. It changed from 2017 as the year to an unknown year. I do hope that they can come up with a better name for it than what they have now. While Wikipedia still lists this as a potential project for Matthew, imbd no longer does. I’ll keep it in these updates for now until I can see for sure what’s happening and if he’s in it. He may not be in this anymore.

Birthmarked: Here’s another Canadian film where I’m not sure if it is coming out sometime in America. It probably will, but we’ll see for sure later. It is mentioned as coming out sometime in 2017. The plot is mentioned as scientists trying to raise kids contrary to how their genes are set up.

Guernsey: This currently has a release year of 2018. The plot relates to a writer writing about the experiences of the residents of Guernsey Island after World War II. Sounds pretty interesting, but haven’t we had enough World War II movies by now?

Ordeal by Innocence: This is about a person who was murdered on Christmas, making me think that’s around when it will air. The release date is sometime in 2017. It seems like it might be based on a true case. I don’t know yet which network this will be on.

Cush Jumbo: In addition to doing The Good Fight, there’s at least one other project that she is doing, a short called Toads & Bluebottles. I would guess that since she’s doing a TV show, she’d be doing less projects, which is why I don’t see them mentioned.

Prediction- This could last a while if people keep using the subscription service to watch it. It already has a second season renewal. Reception: critically acclaimed. Grade: B.

Toads & Bluebottles: This is going to be a ten minute short to be released sometime in 2017. There’s no trailer or release date for this just yet. I’m not sure how to see most shorts. I think that most of them are hard to come by. It is listed as in preproduction. I was able to find the plot: it’s an animated story about imaginary people doing a life journey in just ten minutes. Will it be good? I have no idea. I’d have to see it, or at least a trailer for it, to know for sure.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan: It appears that he joined the cast of The Walking Dead. Thankfully, while I will not be able to watch it myself, I do know someone (multiple people, actually) who can review the show for me. I just hope that someone does something. You can post one yourself in the comments. It appears that he is also in a new project called Militia. A new thing that he’s doing is Rampage. I wonder what that would be like.

The Walking Dead: This is a popular gory cable zombie drama about humans trying to save themselves from what is known as The Walking Dead. I honestly haven’t seen it, so I don’t know if it is as good as everyone makes it seem. But I’ll leave that to guest reviewers of mine to decide for you. Hopefully I get them some point soon so they can help me. If not, I’ll just mention the show until I do get a guest review here at some point. This show will return sometime in October.

Militia: It doesn’t have a release date just yet. The plot relates to a shooting at a police funeral being investigated by a militia man. Hopefully a trailer or release date shows up with it in the future. Until then, we wait. Somehow, this is removed from updates so I don’t know if this is still moving forward or not. I might have to remove it from further updates.

Rampage: This is a movie based off of a video game. It is about apes and monsters destroying a city. It has no trailer yet, but it does have a release date of April 20, 2018. This might be good as I actually like some of these movies.

Robert King: Here is where we switch to writing credits. He and his wife are helping with The Good Fight. I’m not sure what else they might be doing besides that. If there’s anything, I can’t find it. There is nothing else new to report.

The Good Fight: It will be put on www.cbs.com and be available to watch on CBS all access to those that want it. It is available now. Expect to see the same review over and over again for whichever people work on this from The Good Wife.

Michelle King: Since she is married to the previous person, it would appear that she would probably have the same projects in the works as her husband. This section may be redundant since any similar projects that these people have would be the same thing and thus have the same information. She is working on The Good Fight.

The Good Fight: It will be put on www.cbs.com and be available to watch on CBS all access to those that want it. It is available now. Expect to see the same review over and over again for whichever people work on this from The Good Wife.
