Michael Jackson’s Halloween

Sorry that this random post wasn’t updated the day that this special aired on 10-27-2017. I was caught off guard by a lot of things that were going on in my life this month. But I found out that this special was airing on CBS in place of an episode of MacGyver that they normally air.

Not only will this special featuring Alan Cumming in a role, it will also another Good Wife alumni by featuring Christine Baranski. It is also is airing at the same time as Blindspot. I still don’t know if that has Archie Panjabi in it. But this could link up these random posts in the future to when Blindspot airs. I doubt that I would do the regular posts on Fridays at the moment even if it is just once a month. Just keep that in mind as a potential time for potential things for this blog potentially. Or it may have nothing to do with the dates that I have picked.

I decided to put this special on tape, only one not in the main rotation of tapes so that I could get caught up on in sooner and post it when it actually made sense. To me, writing about the special makes more sense than doing a simple review about it so here it is and don’t expect more than just one more mention of this during the regular updates. Let’s get to the special then.

We begin with people in a lab trying to acquire a target of some sort. There is a DJ who is playing a song. His father disapproves. It might have just been an imaginary DJ thing. We then get to a second target who wants to be a dancer who is an intern at an office place. It seems like Christine Baranski is playing the boss character. This main man doesn’t want to take over the grocery store. Victoria, who is the main woman, is stuck taking care of her boss’s dog.

A monkey sets up a magic castle thing with a box of some sort while a person dances some. Who is this mystery person? It is probably not much of a mystery given the name of the special, should it be who I think it is, but I might be wrong. A bat follows the monkey’s command and goes after the targets. Different cartoony things happen as Victoria and whoever this man is named meet up and then argue with each other. They then chase after the dog who took the helmet. He goes inside the house. How did he open the door? The monkey named Bubbles talks to them then takes the two people on an elevator.

Act two has the elevator falling through a vortex of some sort. Only it seems more like the TARDIS travelling through time. They are at the garden level with pumpkins that are big and huge. They follow the music, because following a monkey’s advice seems like a good idea, right? They find pumpkin people dancing in addition to other, weird creatures. This leads to a dance break of some sort. When they walk into the scene, the people disappear briefly before being assured that it is okay to come out and talk to them.

It appears that a person named Conformity is the villain in whatever place they are. Hayman is the pumpkin faced person. She confronts them and a random animal gets turned into a mindless zombie. The people run from Conformity and the crows that she has chase them. They take the song out of Hayman’s head and continue to run into a pumpkin where they take a lead of faith and wind up falling. They got stuck on spider webs of some sort and then overrun by spiders.

Act three has the duo and dog even more attached to the spider webs. Haven’t they ever heard of overkill? The lead spider comes to talk to them. They get charged with what is considered rebellion. Somehow Victoria has a knife that she is using to help escape before she gets the spider to release her and show her marching moves which is pretty much dancing. Maybe he doesn’t realize that he’s breaking his own rules. The boy escapes with the dog during this time. Conformity shows up during this time and a soldier sacrifices himself in a way to become a zombie.

He gets the spiders to attack Conformity and she uses her crows to attack back. He is now on the duos side and he wants to keep his song safe the way Hayman did. The two make their way to a stain glass window of Michael Jackson’s face. They find the elevator, but a skeleton comes and takes their dog to Conformity.

Act four has the heroes captured again and possibly tortured. Conformity talks to her cat assistant for help. I thought that humans were the cats’ assistants. He comes to people with a knife. There are also disembodied heads in jars. Isn’t that just like what happened in Futurama? I don’t fully understand what is going on with the cat. The dog escapes and helps the others escape as well. The cat then turns on Conformity, it seems. They take her machine. Conformity shows up at the hotel where the heroes ended up going to.

Act five has Conformity summoning her zombie hoard to try to attack the two heroes. They then use the machine and Franklin (the cat) is able to come and help them by reversing the polarity. Again, they rip off Doctor Who. They summon different people to attack the hoard of zombies. Michael Jackson shows up and is able to turn the zombies back into humans. How did that happen? Or is it because of dues ex machina? What is going on?

Conformity transforms into a dragon. Now they are ripping off Enchanted. The people are turned back into zombies, but Michael Jackson is able to attack the dragon and turn her back to normal? So everyone dances and that is good, apparently. They then transform back into the forest. The castle turns back into a box as the monkey or chimp gets back into the car that his boss wanted. We then see the main guy as a DJ with Victoria dancing. Also, I missed whoever Meriwether is, but that is who Alan Cumming played. The special ends there.

Okay, that was a pretty strange special. A lot of things happened and it didn’t all make sense. We don’t know why the villain was evil and banning dancing and all that jazz. The ending seemed a bit too convenient for wrapping everything up. Still, it wasn’t really bad or anything. I guess we’ll see what happens and if it ever airs again.

That’s all for this blog post. I don’t know if we’ll see this special air again in future years or not. But if it does, it can relate to future random posts. I already have the next one written for the next time. When is that? You’ll have to wait and see. For now, this is Adam Decker, signing off.

Cast Update 10-10-2017

In case you are wondering what happened with part of my list of shows that I roll for, the option known as unaffiliated solo tapes is now gone and has been replaced by the first season of Without a Trace. I also realize that I have been doing these updates for around a whole year now, so that’s pretty cool. I could do a review of the original Bad Moms for a random post in this blog, but I don’t know yet if I will. I will probably see the original Mamma Mia at some point in time, if all goes well. But there are at least two things that affect by life right now which could prevent this blog from being updated in case you are seeing this late. There might be even more too.

Spin-off information- My review of the spin-off will follow later in this post. It will probably stay for as long as the show is still on. If the show leaves the air, then I’ll probably cut it. I do plan on creating a new blog for it in the future. I guess that I will just have to keep you updated on when it might be released in the future.

Julianna Margulies: It appears that the main actress has a movie project in the works. It is called Three Christs. I’m not sure how it sounds just yet, but I’m not sure that it’s something that I would like. She’s also in another new movie once called The Upside.

Three Christs: This is a movie in preproduction that will be released sometime in 2018. Apparently, a doctor, has to deal with three patients who all think that they are Christ due to a mental problem that they all have. Will it mock religion or be more serious? I found out that this is based off of a real life case of people with schizophrenia. I don’t know what happened here as it seems that it has a rating now on imdb and has already been released in Canada it seems. I guess that I might keep it in the updates for a bit as I figure out what is going on.

The Upside: The plot that imdb has for this sounds very strange. Apparently a former criminal and a wealthy person in a wheelchair have some sort of comedic relationship. It doesn’t have a trailer yet, but it does have a release date of March 9, 2018. I guess we’ll see what, if anything, comes from it. It is weird that the year with this is mentioned as 2017 when the release date is different. It has a rating on imdb implying that it is released in some format. The release date remains the same though. No idea what is going on, but this will remain in the updates for now.

Josh Charles: He has at least two projects in the works, according to imdb. It looks like he will appear in Amateur, a sports movie. I also learned that he is joining the cast of Law & Order: True Crime. That is all that I see him in at the moment.

Amateur: This does not have a trailer or release date yet. This one is still listed as filming, so hopefully it can be released and finished sometime. This is a basketball drama and it appears to be a coming of age drama as well. Can a young player fit in with a new team? It has a year of release: 2017. It doesn’t have a particular date just yet.

Law & Order: True Crime: I was hoping that I could avoid watching this and don’t yet know if I will be able to see this or not. This will be about an actual murder case. This will start on September 26, 2017 and air on NBC at 10/9 Central on Tuesdays meaning that it is out now as of this update.

Thoughts on trailer: Well, I wish that I could be more interested in this. But I honestly don’t care about the case. Why did they kill their parents? I don’t care. But the why is what matters. I guess we’ll see later on what interesting things happen in the series. But I doubt I will be interested in it and this trailer doesn’t seem to do much in terms of making me want to watch it.

This is where I should have a review of the show. But I have not been able to see it yet. You see, NBC is having reception problems where I live. I would use the NBC website to see an episode instead but the terribleness of the website where content frequently doesn’t load prevents this and I don’t know an alternative place to watch. (If it has a place where I have to click a link where it supposedly should have the episode itself, then I’m not interested.) Check Saturdays in my TV blog for posts on new shows and you should hopefully see it there at some point.

Graham Phillips: All this time, you kept hearing me, err, reading me talk about XOXO which has been in these updates the whole time I’ve been doing them. Well, now I can finally remove that from the update and talk about the new movie he will be in called The Pact. We’ll see what happens regarding that. He’ll also have a minor role on Riverdale this upcoming season. He is also going to appear in another movie called The Bygone.

The Pact: This movie has a current release date of April 6, 2018. I’m going to be honest: the plot sounds terrible. It is about fathers trying to stop their daughters from having sex on prom night. People complain that Christian films get made yet there are far too many films based on teen sexuality. I guess we’ll see what ends up happening here. One can hope that the girls don’t have sex.

The Bygone: This has a release year of 2018. It doesn’t have a trailer yet. It looks like a missing person drama of some sort and could be very interesting. Hopefully it will get made and come out in a format that I could easily watch sooner rather than later.

Archie Panjabi: This actress did a lot after leaving the show. Right now, she is in the show Blindspot. I hope that she is still with Blindspot, although I’m not sure at the moment. I can’t find anything else that she might be doing at the moment.

Blindspot: This show is on summer hiatus right now and should return at some point for its third season. I don’t know when it will start again yet. Archie plays a character who seems to suddenly be helping with the team. A review will follow. Her character is the leader of the team at the moment, although I’m not sure I fully understand how that happened. When it returns, it will air at 8/7 Central on Fridays on NBC. It will return on October 27th, 2017.

Review: Blindspot: Status- Currently on hiatus until next season. Why I’ve seen it- I was interested in the idea of it. Description- For mysterious reasons, a woman has amnesia and tattoos all over her body and there are crimes solved based off of this. Notable People- Archie Panjabi, who was on The Good Wife, is a character on the show. Pros- The show is intriguing and interesting. Cons- The show may seem a bit scatterbrained and it seems like they are trying to do a female version of Jason Bourne. The show can seem similar to other types of dramas in a way. It can also be more violent than it needs to be. Note to Parents- I’d say that this is something that teenagers can watch, but not any younger than that. I think that all the episodes I’ve seen thus far were TV14. Recommendation- I’d say that this is worth watching. Prediction- I’m not sure that I have a high hope for the show at the moment. I could be proven wrong, but nothing NBC airs at this timeslot seems to last. Reception: positive. Grade: B+.

Christine Baranski: After rejecting various pilots and other projects in the hopes of getting a spin-off from the Good Wife, she got what was wanted and will be on a Good Wife spin-off. It will only be available on CBS All Access (and hopefully DVDs in the future). The spin-off is called The Good Fight. She is also working on something new called Bad Mom’s Christmas. Another thing that she’s working on is Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. I wonder if that was a play before.

The Good Fight: It will be put on www.cbs.com and be available to watch on CBS all access to those that want it. It is available now. Expect to see the same review over and over again for whichever people work on this from The Good Wife.

Review: Status- It is available online only at CBS all access. I’ll let you know if it is released on DVD. Why I’ve seen it- If there is something in this blog that I can review, I will. Description- Diane continues her adventures starting from scratch after losing her retirement money and starting at a new firm. Pros- The show is about the same level of quality that you would expect from The Good Wife. Cons- Apparently, there is going to be a lot of nudity in it. Like the original, this show is a bit too confusing. Note to Parents- Your kids would have to pay to watch this online so if they are seeing it, then you hopefully were the ones who let that happen, although I’d lean towards not letting really young people watch this. Recommendation- Since this is only available online for money, I would actually steer clear of this unless you really like the show. I like it, but not enough to shell out too much money for it. Prediction- This could last a while if people keep using the subscription service to watch it. It already has a second season renewal. Reception: critically acclaimed. Grade: B.

Bad Mom’s Christmas: The plot of this movie has three women or girls struggle with their respective mother’s visiting for Christmas. It sounds like it would be part of the more stupid style comedies, so we’ll see if that’s what it is like or not. It could be good or it might not be; I’ll have to see it to know for sure. It has a release date of November 3rd, 2017. There is also a trailer for it now. Also, I’m including the apostrophe in the title even though they seemed to have forgotten it in the real title, although it might work either way with or without.

Thoughts on trailer: Well, I’m sure that there were worse films made over the course of time. Given the type of film that it is, I just don’t see it working out that well. Hopefully it can fall on the less dumb side of things. I still haven’t seen the original Bad Moms movie and probably won’t unless this one defies expectations. I might not watch it even if I do like this.

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again: This is a sequel to the film Mamma Mia which I have not yet seen, but I guess that I’ll have to now. It has a release date now of July 20, 2018. It doesn’t have a plot just yet, although I don’t know what there would be to it. She was in the original Mamma Mia, so that gives me more reason to watch it and make it a random post in the future.

Matt Czuchry: All of this time that you’ve seen me doing updates for him in this blog, you only saw me mentioning the reboot of Gilmore Girls. Well, I can finally take that off the update list and report on something new he is finally doing. It is a TV show called The Resident.

The Resident: This will be a show on FOX sometime at midseason. I’m not sure if there’s a better way of putting it than calling it a medical drama, which is what it would be. The main thing that would make it different is it focusing more on medicine than other shows have, according to one description that I read of it. That description may be wrong upon seeing the trailer, although I’d have to see the show to know for sure. Keep looking at the schedule for when it will start and hopefully it won’t catch me off guard. Also, I am suddenly thinking that this show could be like House, which I hope it isn’t.

Thoughts on trailer: It seems like there is more to this than what was first known to me. A resident might have witnessed manslaughter, but we’ll see if that becomes more important to the series as it goes along or not. He wants to help people and it is cool that he is playing the main character. This looks interesting as usual, although I do hope that there is less sex here than in the average TV show. We’ll see what happens and I hope that it starts airing sooner rather than later.

Makenzie Vega: She has been working since The Good Wife ended. There’s a TV movie that she did in postproduction called Tomboy. As for any other new projects, I don’t see them just yet. There’s nothing new to report.

Tomboy: This made for TV movie is listed as in postproduction and has neither a release date nor trailer for it just yet. It is something that will be out in 2017 according to imdb. It doesn’t mention so much as a plot to it, so I guess I’ll have to figure that out for future updates. One can guess that a tomboy is central to the plot.

Alan Cumming: Here’s an actor who’s known for starring in Broadway plays and productions. Perhaps you have seen him on the Tony Awards that you always watch because you can’t afford to see Broadway any other way. It looks like he has a lot of future projects in the works. The first one is called The Surrealist. Another movie that he’s doing in the future is Battle of the Sexes. A new one that I’ve noticed is called Show Dogs. That’s a lot of projects to look out for in the future. He is also doing something called Instinct. Yet another project of his is Michael Jackson’s Halloween.

The Surrealist: This appears to be a scripted movie regarding an artist named Salvador Dali. This appears to be based off of a true story. It looks like he has issues with his wife over his obsession with the Mona Lisa. There is no release date or trailer for the movie, and it appears that it doesn’t so much as have a single year of release on it just yet. Upon doing more research, it might be in development hell since a source I found with information says that it was planned since at least the fifth upcoming season of The Good Wife. So hopefully something will eventually come of this potential project. I’m not even sure if it belongs in these updates.

Battle of the Sexes: This is listed as being in postproduction right now. This is also based off of a true story regarding a tennis match between Billie Jean King and Bobbie Riggs. It should be coming out on September 22, 2017. It is out now. It has a trailer.

Thoughts on trailer: Okay, this looks interesting. I hope that I can avoid learning who the winner of the fight is because I really don’t want it to be Bobbie. I also like Emma Stone for the most part, although I wish that I knew what role Alan has in this movie. Will this be more of a drama? That would be a departure from his usual comedy roles. I will not mention how the fight ends if I do learn spoilers before watching it. While I normally don’t watch sports movies, this one does seem pretty interesting.

While I’m interested in seeing this movie, I have not yet been able to watch it due to it not seeming to be in local theaters of mine. I don’t know if I’ll have to wait or venture further. Hopefully I can see it at some point. If not, just look up this movie at imdb and read a review there until mine can hopefully come in the future.

Show Dogs: This project is listed as filming at the moment. The plot relates to a police dog going undercover in a dog show competition to prevent some sort of disaster from happening. It might be live action, although I can’t tell for sure at the moment. It is more than likely an animated movie. It was planned for release on November 10, 2017, but it appears that there has been a change. Now, I’m only getting a New Zealand release date of January 4, 2018. No idea what’s going on here. I guess I’ll have to wait and find out what happens later. I’m going to keep both dates mentioned for now, although it seems like the 2018 date will be the official one.

Instinct: This is a pilot that Alan is working on and it got picked up on CBS for the future. It will appear sometime at midseason, or possibly earlier in the event that something fails early on. I’ll keep you updated as to when it will air in the future.

Michael Jackson’s Halloween: This is an animated TV movie that doesn’t have a plot mentioned just yet. I have no idea what network this could or would end up airing on. It has a release timeframe of October 2017, although it doesn’t have a specific date yet.

Zach Grenier: If he’s doing anything, I don’t see it at the moment. Maybe we’ll see more from him in the future over time. Maybe not. He seems to be making guest star appearances a lot. I guess we’ll see what future he has in the business and until then, I’ll just keep him in updates here.

Matthew Goode: He has been doing a lot of projects since leaving The Good Wife. I might as well get to mentioning all of them. A project he’s doing is Magik. Another new project he’s in is called Four Kids and it. And he has yet another new project in the works called Birthmarked. He’s done so much and keeps doing more. Another thing he is appearing in is called Guernsey, which we’ll find out more about later. It has been renamed, as you’ll see later. I’m not sure if he is still in Four Kids and it or Magik. I also don’t know if either of those last two projects are still moving forward. I see him in a mini-series called Ordeal by Innocence as well. Yet another potential project of his is called A Discovery of Witches, which would be a TV show.

Magik: This is an animated movie in the fantasy genre. It looks like it will be a Canadian film. There is no trailer for it yet. This is in postproduction according to imdb. The plot relates to a father visiting an alternate world to find his missing kids. While the US release date remains unknown, the UK release date is sometime in 2018. Imbd no longer mentions this as a project that Matthew is in. While it looks like the movie is still moving forward, I can’t tell if he is still in this.

Four Kids and it: This looks like another in a line of kids finding some magical creature film. I liked these as a kid, although I’m not sure that I’ll still have the same fondness as an adult. Hopefully I can. There is no trailer of specific release date for it yet. It changed from 2017 as the year to an unknown year. I do hope that they can come up with a better name for it than what they have now. While Wikipedia still lists this as a potential project for Matthew, imbd no longer does. I’ll keep it in these updates for now until I can see for sure what’s happening and if he’s in it. He may not be in this anymore.

Birthmarked: Here’s another Canadian film where I’m not sure if it is coming out sometime in America. It probably will, but we’ll see for sure later. It is mentioned as coming out sometime in 2017. The plot is mentioned as scientists trying to raise kids contrary to how their genes are set up.

Guernsey: This currently has a release year of 2018. The plot relates to a writer writing about the experiences of the residents of Guernsey Island after World War II. Sounds pretty interesting, but haven’t we had enough World War II movies by now? It has been renamed The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. What was wrong with the first name? The title is going to be shortened anyways.

Ordeal by Innocence: This is about a person who was murdered on Christmas, making me think that’s around when it will air. The release date is sometime in 2017. It seems like it might be based on a true case. I don’t know yet which network this will be on.

A Discovery of Witches: This has no release date or trailer just yet. It will air on the Sky network which I think is British and not American meaning that I doubt that I’d be able to see it. The plot makes it seem like a supernatural show that has witches and vampires who have to work together even though they shouldn’t trust each other.

Cush Jumbo: In addition to doing The Good Fight, there’s at least one other project that she is doing, a short called Toads & Bluebottles. I would guess that since she’s doing a TV show, she’d be doing less projects, which is why I don’t see them mentioned.

Prediction- This could last a while if people keep using the subscription service to watch it. It already has a second season renewal. Reception: critically acclaimed. Grade: B.

Toads & Bluebottles: This is going to be a ten minute short to be released sometime in 2017. There’s no trailer or release date for this just yet. I’m not sure how to see most shorts. I think that most of them are hard to come by. It is listed as in preproduction. I was able to find the plot: it’s an animated story about imaginary people doing a life journey in just ten minutes. Will it be good? I have no idea. I’d have to see it, or at least a trailer for it, to know for sure.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan: It appears that he joined the cast of The Walking Dead. Thankfully, while I will not be able to watch it myself, I do know someone (multiple people, actually) who can review the show for me. I just hope that someone does something. You can post one yourself in the comments. It appears that he is also in a new project called Militia. A new thing that he’s doing is Rampage. I wonder what that would be like.

The Walking Dead: This is a popular gory cable zombie drama about humans trying to save themselves from what is known as The Walking Dead. I honestly haven’t seen it, so I don’t know if it is as good as everyone makes it seem. But I’ll leave that to guest reviewers of mine to decide for you. Hopefully I get them some point soon so they can help me. If not, I’ll just mention the show until I do get a guest review here at some point. This show will return sometime this month, if it hasn’t already.

Militia: It doesn’t have a release date just yet. The plot relates to a shooting at a police funeral being investigated by a militia man. Hopefully a trailer or release date shows up with it in the future. Until then, we wait. Somehow, this is removed from imdb’s website so I don’t know if this is still moving forward or not. I might have to remove it from further updates, but don’t know if I will or not.

Rampage: This is a movie based off of a video game. It is about apes and monsters destroying a city. It has no trailer yet, but it does have a release date of April 20, 2018. This might be good as I actually like some of these movies.

Robert King: Here is where we switch to writing credits. He and his wife are helping with The Good Fight. I’m not sure what else they might be doing besides that. If there’s anything, I can’t find it. There is nothing else new to report.

The Good Fight: It will be put on www.cbs.com and be available to watch on CBS all access to those that want it. It is available now. Expect to see the same review over and over again for whichever people work on this from The Good Wife.

Michelle King: Since she is married to the previous person, it would appear that she would probably have the same projects in the works as her husband. This section may be redundant since any similar projects that these people have would be the same thing and thus have the same information. She is working on The Good Fight.

The Good Fight: It will be put on www.cbs.com and be available to watch on CBS all access to those that want it. It is available now. Expect to see the same review over and over again for whichever people work on this from The Good Wife.
