Sorry that this random post wasn’t updated the
day that this special aired on 10-27-2017. I was caught off guard by a lot of
things that were going on in my life this month. But I found out that this
special was airing on CBS in place of an episode of MacGyver that they normally
air.
Not only will this special featuring Alan
Cumming in a role, it will also another Good Wife alumni by featuring Christine
Baranski. It is also is airing at the same time as Blindspot. I still don’t
know if that has Archie Panjabi in it. But this could link up these random
posts in the future to when Blindspot airs. I doubt that I would do the regular
posts on Fridays at the moment even if it is just once a month. Just keep that
in mind as a potential time for potential things for this blog potentially. Or
it may have nothing to do with the dates that I have picked.
I decided to put this special on tape, only one
not in the main rotation of tapes so that I could get caught up on in sooner
and post it when it actually made sense. To me, writing about the special makes
more sense than doing a simple review about it so here it is and don’t expect
more than just one more mention of this during the regular updates. Let’s get
to the special then.
We begin with people in a lab trying to acquire
a target of some sort. There is a DJ who is playing a song. His father
disapproves. It might have just been an imaginary DJ thing. We then get to a
second target who wants to be a dancer who is an intern at an office place. It
seems like Christine Baranski is playing the boss character. This main man
doesn’t want to take over the grocery store. Victoria, who is the main woman,
is stuck taking care of her boss’s dog.
A monkey sets up a magic castle thing with a
box of some sort while a person dances some. Who is this mystery person? It is
probably not much of a mystery given the name of the special, should it be who
I think it is, but I might be wrong. A bat follows the monkey’s command and
goes after the targets. Different cartoony things happen as Victoria and
whoever this man is named meet up and then argue with each other. They then
chase after the dog who took the helmet. He goes inside the house. How did he
open the door? The monkey named Bubbles talks to them then takes the two people
on an elevator.
Act two has the elevator falling through a
vortex of some sort. Only it seems more like the TARDIS travelling through
time. They are at the garden level with pumpkins that are big and huge. They
follow the music, because following a monkey’s advice seems like a good idea,
right? They find pumpkin people dancing in addition to other, weird creatures.
This leads to a dance break of some sort. When they walk into the scene, the
people disappear briefly before being assured that it is okay to come out and
talk to them.
It appears that a person named Conformity is
the villain in whatever place they are. Hayman is the pumpkin faced person. She
confronts them and a random animal gets turned into a mindless zombie. The
people run from Conformity and the crows that she has chase them. They take the
song out of Hayman’s head and continue to run into a pumpkin where they take a
lead of faith and wind up falling. They got stuck on spider webs of some sort
and then overrun by spiders.
Act three has the duo and dog even more
attached to the spider webs. Haven’t they ever heard of overkill? The lead
spider comes to talk to them. They get charged with what is considered
rebellion. Somehow Victoria has a knife that she is using to help escape before
she gets the spider to release her and show her marching moves which is pretty
much dancing. Maybe he doesn’t realize that he’s breaking his own rules. The
boy escapes with the dog during this time. Conformity shows up during this time
and a soldier sacrifices himself in a way to become a zombie.
He gets the spiders to attack Conformity and
she uses her crows to attack back. He is now on the duos side and he wants to
keep his song safe the way Hayman did. The two make their way to a stain glass
window of Michael Jackson’s face. They find the elevator, but a skeleton comes
and takes their dog to Conformity.
Act four has the heroes captured again and
possibly tortured. Conformity talks to her cat assistant for help. I thought
that humans were the cats’ assistants. He comes to people with a knife. There
are also disembodied heads in jars. Isn’t that just like what happened in
Futurama? I don’t fully understand what is going on with the cat. The dog
escapes and helps the others escape as well. The cat then turns on Conformity,
it seems. They take her machine. Conformity shows up at the hotel where the
heroes ended up going to.
Act five has Conformity summoning her zombie
hoard to try to attack the two heroes. They then use the machine and Franklin
(the cat) is able to come and help them by reversing the polarity. Again, they
rip off Doctor Who. They summon different people to attack the hoard of
zombies. Michael Jackson shows up and is able to turn the zombies back into
humans. How did that happen? Or is it because of dues ex machina? What is going
on?
Conformity transforms into a dragon. Now they
are ripping off Enchanted. The people are turned back into zombies, but Michael
Jackson is able to attack the dragon and turn her back to normal? So everyone
dances and that is good, apparently. They then transform back into the forest.
The castle turns back into a box as the monkey or chimp gets back into the car
that his boss wanted. We then see the main guy as a DJ with Victoria dancing.
Also, I missed whoever Meriwether is, but that is who Alan Cumming played. The
special ends there.
Okay, that was a pretty strange special. A lot
of things happened and it didn’t all make sense. We don’t know why the villain
was evil and banning dancing and all that jazz. The ending seemed a bit too
convenient for wrapping everything up. Still, it wasn’t really bad or anything.
I guess we’ll see what happens and if it ever airs again.
That’s all for this blog post. I don’t know if
we’ll see this special air again in future years or not. But if it does, it can
relate to future random posts. I already have the next one written for the next
time. When is that? You’ll have to wait and see. For now, this is Adam Decker,
signing off.
