In what is likely my last political post of this blog of this year, I thought that I would go all out and do a post on the largely terrible ways that Republicans have handled the pandemic. They are the reason that it is as bad as it is. They are the reason that people are still dying from it and that as many people already had died from it. Now I’m not going to say that every Republican has had a bad response or that every Democrat has had a good response. But Republicans want to blame everyone but themselves for the reason that it is so bad. They could call it the Republican virus or irony virus since so many of them keep getting it.
Here
is an incomplete list of some of the Republicans who have gotten coronavirus
thus far. An asterisk next to their name means that they died from the virus.
My apologies in advance if there is a person on here by mistake. Republicans
that have gotten coronavirus are Mike Bost, Mike Parson, Mike DeWine, Herman
Cain *, Ron Wright *, Rand Paul, Lindsey Graham, Donald Trump, Kevin Stitt,
Michelle Steele, Amy Coney Barrett, and probably more. You’d think that any
idea that it was a hoax would be gone by now. It is, but they never apologized
for it or take it seriously even after some on this list got coronavirus. Some
insisted that it would go away after the election. Unsurprisingly, it didn’t.
I’m
going to get more into some of what they are doing wrong. But one of the
biggest issues was the lockdown protests. So many of them protested the
lockdowns and, of course, did it without masks or proper social distancing.
This is compared to the Black Lives Matter (BLM) protests that also happened
around the same time. That was the only time that they thought that people
shouldn’t be out protesting was when they were doing it right and had a good
reason for it. But ignoring lockdown orders are?
There
were 50+ different responses to it since the buck was passed to the governors
instead of there being only a national response. There are some things that
can’t be done nationally. But there was still a whole lot more that could have
been done back when Trump was in charge. Instead, he turned the gubernatorial
response into a reason to attack any and all of the liberal governors while
also using it as a litmus test for the Republican governors to see who was
loyal to him and who he would quickly turn on.
Then
there are the freedom fallacies that are mentioned here as well. Some people
think that them being forced to wear a face mask goes against their rights.
They refuse to wear them and don’t buy into the fact that they do, in fact,
save lives. Here’s a video on the mask mandates that also talks about some
other pandemic related rules as well.

Still,
people’s freedoms aren’t being infringed upon and if they put up with this now,
then they wouldn’t have to worry about this pandemic anymore or any of the
restrictions that go along with it as there wouldn’t even be a pandemic
since the virus and all its variants would have died out. Plus, people say that
they have a right to what they do with their own bodies even though their
negative effects from this pandemic could affect plenty of others. Plus, I
don’t believe that one single conservative would argue in favor of abortion even
though that it often being said abortion is the right to what one does with
their own body. Now I’m not in favor of abortion, but it is quite the strange
parallel to point out.
But
there might be better days seen by Republicans since some of them seem to be
seeing the light. Trump recently told his supporters to get the vaccine. Kay
Ivey, Republican governor of Alabama, said that it is time to blame the
unvaccinated for the continuing pandemic. This might be them realizing that if
Republicans keep dying from coronavirus, there won’t be anyone left to vote for
them again. Of course, them wanting people to live isn’t a bad thing at all. I
don’t think that anyone should still be dying from the pandemic still. It is
easy not to.
Now
let’s get to a whole lot of links that relate to the pandemic still from over
time. Note that one of if not the absolute worst responses to the pandemic came
from the state of Florida. Their governor, Ron DeSantis, seems to be doing a
horrible job and seems to be trying to kill those that he leads in his state.
Here is one reason why. And there are others too.
People
are being fucking ridiculous when it comes to mask mandates and instead of
requiring them as they have been proven to help, they are doing the exact
opposite and banning them by saying that they are infringing on their freedoms.
Why do conservatives make so many leaps in logic that their party of lemmings
are willing to get behind?
One
of the notable things that had happened with the pandemic was the primary
system. Some states had delayed their primaries and Wisconsin tried to be one
of them. But they wouldn’t allow this, the state’s conservative majority
Supreme Court. It seems to have backfired as the Democrats voted and were able
to while Republicans sat it out.
Then
we get to the state of Ohio where we have Mike DeWine being all over the place.
He has done stuff that has gotten his own party pissed off at him. And we also
have him doing things that would have liberals like me pissed off at him, like
this:
Now
like a lot of the Daily Kos stories that I want to share somewhere, they are
outdated, but was still an article that I felt was worth sharing at some point
so I will now. The unemployed should get back to work. But I know that being
unemployed or underemployed isn’t as easy to fix as some would have you
believe. With the vaccine now, they should have a reason to go back to work.
But there are still reasons why they might not be able to.
Of
course, you have to remember that Republicans were not in favor of relief
regarding the pandemic unless they themselves benefited from it in some way.
That’s a bad issue as you might imagine. Here are some of the ways that
Republicans care more about their own self interests than offering relief from
the pandemic’s financial crisis.
There’s
a lot that can be said about the state wide responses to the pandemic and things
were just not going good in some places. I’m going to be putting the governors
under a microscope and hope that all of the bad ones will get out of office at
some point in the future. Here are two articles on how things were bad in some
ways since Pence wanted to belittle the pandemic and states didn’t have that
great a way of reopening.
There
are two links worth sharing about the lockdown protests that were going on.
Trump had used this to turn on any and all of his gubernatorial critics,
regardless of which party they were from, despite the fact that most of them
would make far better presidents than he would and that includes people like
Larry Hogan. Here’s what went on in Michigan. The first one seems like it was a
precursor to what we saw on January 6th. I’d be shocked if not one
single person that was responsible for what went on at the Michigan capital was
also part of the storming of the US capital as well.
Trump
supporters did a lot of bad things and I don’t have a list of all of the links
right now. But I do think that this is worth sharing. They also did things in
Illinois and Kentucky, but I don’t have links to stories about that here.
Let’s
get to even more of the horrible ways that Republicans have dismissed the
pandemic and belittled it, much to the detriment of society as a whole. They belittled
the vaccines once they got here and made it seem like your rights were
infringed upon by it being offered. Here are some of their failures with it.

https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2020/6/15/1953080/-Cartoon-Everything-is-fine?detail=emaildkre
There
are still the racial disparities of the virus even now. You can imagine that
now, those that aren’t white are being blamed on the fact that the pandemic
still exists. This isn’t that good of an argument to make if you don’t want to
be racist. But Republicans wouldn’t care about that or they wouldn’t be so
racist.
Of
course, this could make you wonder if that was part of the idea. Did some
people want certain people to die in order to make sure that they wouldn’t vote
since they’d be dead? I do think that there are some bad things relating to it
and this could be a reason why.
Now
there are two links next about how Republicans set themselves up for looking
good when they were actually doing quite terribly. Often, they will take credit
for good things that the liberals did that they have nothing to do with and
blame liberals for stuff that Republicans did. And some try to say that H1N1
was somehow worse when the evidence doesn’t back this up.
We
do have to wonder just how much better some countries have had responding to
the virus at large since some of this wouldn’t be known in the whole world
right now. While this article is outdated as some of their people have died
from it since, they have had a much better response to the pandemic at the
time.
I
have no idea just how much things went bad under Trump, but you can tell that
coronavirus wanted to show him how big a deal it was when there was an
infection at the White House that got Trump infected himself. And it did much
worse than one whole country.
Indeed,
it didn’t seem long after Ginsburg death that he ghost caused problems as we
then saw her revenge in the form of her successor being nominated. This seems
to be where we got the White House outbreak that could have killed Trump.
Speaking
of almost dying from the pandemic, there were at least two events that caused
much of the virus to spread. And Trump rallies may have helped his self esteem,
but they have linked 700 deaths from coronavirus to his rallies (though this
number is not in linked sources). Trump was seeing as endangering lives by
holding these rallies.
This
is when we get to two of the horrible ways that Republicans are with the
pandemic. One of them is that the sue against all of the restrictions and
lockdowns due to the pandemic. The other is strangely like an opposite: they
want to make companies immune from lawsuits because of the coronavirus. I’m not
saying that you should sue them, but the option should be there in case they
really did mess up.
It
will be hard to see just how different the response among Democrats to the
pandemic will be compared to Republicans. But it seems like the Democrats have
the better response and even knew that it would be a problem in the first
place.
And
that’s it for this post. Republicans have turned this needless into a political
issue and make it seem like your rights are in danger when they are not. We are
seeming to only get the crazies with this and only ever will. This pandemic won’t
end if they don’t get their shit together.
