Politics: A Term We Need- Conservative Fantasy

One of the many phrases that is also an insult of liberals that Republicans like to say from time to time is liberal fantasy. They love to say this. Wanting to help people? How are you going to pay for that? That’s liberal fantasy. Trying to accomplish something that seems unreasonable but is much needed? Liberal fantasy. This is used so often that it becomes white noise in a way. But the term that we really need now is conservative fantasy to describe all of the things that they believe or want to progress that are just so out of touch with reality that they could only be a fantasy. This is a term that we need.

You see, the problem with conservatives is that they often live in their own reality. Thus, the statement that Mike Pounce (is that his name? That’s what the insurrectionist called Trump once said his name was) said at the vice-presidential debate was among the most ironic things ever said since he said that you can’t have your own facts when Republicans are more than likely to ignore facts and live in a world of their own.

Often, a conservative fantasy has what they feel is a ring of truth to it. Like I saw someone on facebook (Survivor contestant Laura Morett) post something that covered a lot of things in it and one of the things that stuck out was something along the lines that they felt that coronavirus was how the government would take our freedoms away. This could only be a conservative fantasy since that wouldn’t happen and people shouldn’t believe that it would happen. Some make it seem like a lack of government regulation in some places like a lack of mask mandate is how we get freedom during a pandemic. But unless they mean freedom from life as in you will die because of said freedom, there really isn’t a good upside because of this.

There are plenty more of them too. Since conservatives live in their own reality, they often are left with the idea that Trump is somehow Christian despite not showing any signs of faith and so many of them blindly vote for him. It has nothing to do with religion, but the abortion issue. I’m pretty sure that if a supposed Christianity test existed in politics, there would be questions on it that are worth one point and the pro-life question would be worth 95% of the grade. Thus, you could get every other question wrong and still pass the test.

But it is a myth that the Republican Party is truly pro-life. Again, you’d only have to focus solely on the abortion issue. But there are plenty of other ways that one can be in favor of life. When you see just how badly North Dakota has done because of coronavirus, then you know that they are not in favor of life there. Over 400,000 people died in this country due to the pandemic when Trump was in charge. How can one be pro-life when all this death is occurring? Why isn’t there more of a focus on expanding birth control coverage since birth control prevents pregnancies which prevents abortions? It makes sense to a lot of people. Plus one of the most pro-war sides of the political spectrum has a lot of nerve trying to say that they are pro-life. Congrats. You got really only one issue right that people like me can see through easily.

It is hard offhand to think of what other conservative fantasies there are, but there are a lot of them. They often aren’t even good. They are just weird things that people think and have for one reason or another. They shouldn’t be living in their fantasy world. They should accept the true reality of what is going on.

Sorry if this post wasn’t as good as it could have been, but I feel that I want to create some sort of content for each of my blogs and you should be glad that I’m giving something versus not one thing at all. Hopefully, this is a good enough post.
