This
is the first update of the new year so it makes me wonder about any movies or
shows that are still mentioned for being with last year. This may be the last
time that I include some of these movies in the update as it mentions them with
a previous year. I always get confused by stuff like that. I will say that
anything with an imdb score, even if I can’t find a trailer, release date, or
way of seeing it, will probably be removed from future updates. Also, you will
get a special treat regarding something in these updates should something
change in the future with it.
Spin-off information- These are the people
that I know of who are in the cast: Christine Baranski, Cush Jumbo, Sarah
Steele, Rose Leslie, and Delroy Lindo. I know that’s not all of them, but
that’s a lot of them. Justin Bartha will also be in the cast. Honestly, I have no
idea who most of these people are. Well, I might and might not. But we’ll see who
they are and if this series turns out to be any good or not. I still don’t know
if I’ll be able to see it or not, but I will report about it for as long as it
lasts.
The Good Fight:
It will be put on www.cbs.com
and be available to watch on CBS all access to those that want it. It will be
released sometime on February 19th, 2017 according to the
link that’s mentioned below. More information will be revealed about it in the
future as it becomes available.
A trailer of it
was released: http://www.cbs.com/shows/the-good-fight/video/IOhznOK1rHN4oc9gy1klv5Q16lQD9CFN/the-good-fight-teaser/?intcid=CIA-00-10acj3g
Thoughts
on trailer: Of course, not much can be gained from a 30 second trailer. It does
look interesting. I wish that shows didn’t rely on sex so much. Speaking of
which, since this isn’t on the network, does that make it possible that they
could do nudity? I guess that some people will see. I also don’t know if they
are still planning on airing the pilot on TV or if all of it will be on all
access.
Julianna Margulies: It appears
that the main actress has a movie project in the works. It is called The
Three Christs of Ypsilanti. I’m not sure how it sounds just yet, but I’m
not sure that it’s something that I would like. There is nothing else new to
report.
The Three Christs of
Ypsilanti: This is a movie in preproduction that will be released sometime in 2018.
Apparently, a doctor, has to deal with three patients who all think that they
are Christ due to a mental problem that they all have. Will it mock religion or
be more serious? I found out that this is based off of a real life case of
people with schizophrenia. Also, ignore the description imdb gives it.
Josh Charles: He has at least
three projects in the works, according to imdb. The first is called The
Drowning. I can’t gather much from that just yet. But it does appear that Amateur,
a sports movie, is something that I can find more information about. Another
project mentioned is called Norman. Hopefully all of these get made and
released.
The
Drowning: This looks like a movie of some sort. It does not have a release date
or trailer just yet. The release year is mentioned as 2016 and it has a rating
on imdb. I don’t know what happened with it so this might be the last time that
you’ll see it mentioned in this review as I have no idea how/if I’d be able to
see it. It is based off of a book called Border Crossing, which is also the
name of what the movie was called at one point before they switched it to this.
The plot: a man saves another man from drowning, but realizes that they have a
history from ten years ago. It might have been released. I honestly
don’t know if this is out yet as I don’t know how or where I would see it.
Amateur:
Like the previous movie, this does not have a trailer or release date yet. This
one is still listed as filming, so hopefully it can be released and finished
sometime. This is a basketball drama and it appears to be a coming of age drama
as well. Can a young player fit in with a new team? The time of release, once
listed as 2016, now seems to be an unknown year. We’ll have no idea what
the future might be, but it doesn’t look soon anymore.
Norman:
While this is mentioned as a movie for this year, it seems to have a release
date of March 2017. It has a rating on imdb as it may have played at
some film festival before an official release to the public. To be clear,
though, I have no idea what’s going on with the movie at the moment as there is
still not a trailer for it or an official release date. The plot is about The
Moderate Rise and Tragic Fall of a New York Fixer, as the subtitle that the
movie used to have clearly mentioned. It could actually be out now, but
I can’t tell if it is or not.
Graham
Phillips: I honestly wasn’t sure if he’d still be in acting after The Good
Wife. It appears that he isn’t doing much, if anything, in the acting world
still. He appeared in three episodes of Secrets and Lies, but it appears that
the show is probably over now. He’s also in a movie. hat movie is called XOXO
and is available to watch on Netflix right now. I just don’t know if I can give
a review of this just yet. I hope that I can eventually. I’m going to keep
including it in the update until I can review it or he does something new.
XOXO: This movie is about six people sharing some strange
romantic night of some sort. It looks like a romantic drama of some sort. It
should be out now as of this update. I’m not sure if I’m going to be able
to see it since it appears to be a Netflix exclusive. I don’t know if it will
ever be available on DVD for me to watch without Netflix. I’ll check back later
for more updates. I also hope to find a guest reviewer for this movie or hope
that it would be available to rent sometime at my video store. I’m not getting
Netflix just to watch this. There is a trailer for the movie now.
Trailer link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUN5uSu_VQM
Thoughts on trailer: It looks like an interesting trailer.
I’d have to say that it was a vague trailer of some sort. I can’t tell yet if
it is one of those famous controversial trailers that make a movie look better
than it is. I’m not entirely sure if I have seen one of those. Anyways, it
looks like the movie is a fairly normal movie of some sort although it might
have some weird parts to it. The trailer does make me interested in seeing the movie.
I hope that it’s not a misleading trailer.
Now is the point where I
should post a review of the movie, but I can’t as I am not able to watch this.
If anyone reading this is able to see the movie and wants to do a review of it,
then let me know. In fact, if you want to do that, then just comment on this
post. In the meantime, I’ll see if it ever gets released to DVD so I can
actually watch it out of Netflix.
Archie Panjabi: This actress
did a lot after leaving the show. Right now, she is in the show Blindspot
which I’ve recently started watching the second season of online. That is the
only project I can see of hers at the moment.
Blindspot: This shows airs at 8/7
Central on Wednesdays on NBC. Archie plays a character who seems to suddenly
be helping with the team. A review will follow. It is back on the air with new
episodes this year. Hopefully, I’ll be able to see it more soon.
Review: Blindspot: Status- Currently on NBC at 8/7 Central on Wednesdays.
Why I’ve seen it- I was interested in the idea of it. Description- For
mysterious reasons, a woman has amnesia and tattoos all over her body and there
are crimes solved based off of this. Notable People- Archie Panjabi, who was on
The Good Wife, is a character on the show. Pros- The show is intriguing and
interesting. Cons- The show may seem a bit scatterbrained and it seems like
they are trying to do a female version of Jason Bourne. The show can seem
similar to other types of dramas in a way. It can also be more violent than it
needs to be. Note to Parents- I’d say that this is something that teenagers can
watch, but not any younger than that. I think that all the episodes I’ve seen
thus far were TV14. Recommendation- I’d say that this is worth watching.
Prediction- I’m not sure that I have a high hope for the show at the moment. I
could be proven wrong, but nothing NBC airs at this timeslot seems to last.
Reception: positive. Grade: B+.
Christine Baranski: After
rejecting various pilots and other projects in the hopes of getting a spin-off
from the Good Wife, she got what was wanted and will be on a Good Wife
spin-off. It will only be available on CBS All Access (and hopefully DVDs in
the future) so it will not be something I’m able to watch at first. It seems
that she’s doing something else as well. In addition to The Good Fight,
she also did a movie called Trolls which is in theaters now.
The Good Fight:
It will be put on www.cbs.com
and be available to watch on CBS all access to those that want it. It will be
released sometime on February 19th, 2017. More information
will be revealed about it in the future as it becomes available.
Trolls: This is an animated
movie which is hard to tell the plot of for sure right now. It appears to be
about the happy trolls and their enemies the pessimist Bergens who like to eat
trolls. Upon future inspection, it appears that most of the trolls go missing
and there’s a quest to get them back. This movie is out now as of this
update. We’ll see if it becomes a hit or not. I’ll let you know when it
will be on DVD. Until then, you’ll keep seeing it in these updates.
Review: Movie Name- Trolls.
Genre- This is an animated, musical movie. Rating- PG. Noteworthiness- This is
based off of the Happy Trolls something of some sort or another. Description-
20 years after escaping from Bergens, the trolls’ lives are in danger again
when one comes back to have the others eat them. The Good Wife Alumni in it-
Christine Baranski voices the main villain of the film. Pros- The film is quite
colorful and feel good. There is much to enjoy about it as there is a
straightforward plot and not much about it is bad. Cons- The ending, while
good, seems kind of like a cop out. Not all of it makes sense and there isn’t
much of a sense of danger throughout most of it. Note to Parents- There are
some fart/poop jokes and an animated butt, briefly shown. There are also scenes
briefly involving choking and there is some peril as a lot of threats regarding
trying to be eaten and actually being captured. I’d say that this is probably
mostly acceptable to kids. Recommendation- I would suggest that people watch it
as it was pretty good to me. IMDB Ranking: 6.7; My Grade: B.
Matt Czuchry: Besides The Good
Wife, this actor was known for another TV show: Gilmore Girls. They are coming
back with a sequel miniseries of that called Gilmore Girls: A Year in the
Life. That seems to be the only future project of his at the moment.
Gilmore Girls: A Year in the
Life: This will be on Netflix and I probably wouldn’t have watched this if it
aired on a format I could see simply because I was never into this show when it
first aired. I might like it or might not. I honestly don’t know for sure. With
luck, I can get someone else to review it. It is out now on Netflix. I’m
not sure when its public release will be, although I’m not entirely sure if it
will get one. I’m not sure that I’d be able to see it either way.
I have a friend who has the
first season of Gilmore Girls on DVD. While I expect the reboot to be different
in some ways, you can expect a review of the show in the future. First, I need
an empty space on my list of shows to watch. Since I’m borrowing it, this will
actually replace what could have been the next in line. I have far too much to
watch of shows on DVD and not enough time to watch them.
Review of original Gilmore
Girls: Status- No longer on the air, it used to air on the WB and then later
the CW. Why I’ve seen it- I borrowed the DVDs from a friend just for this blog.
Noteworthiness- This got rebooted by Netflix. Description- Mostly
the story of a woman and her daughter trying to make their way through the
world. Notable People- Matt
Czuchry was on this show at one point. Melissa McCarthy, who later did movies
and the TV show Mike and Molly, was also a character. Lauren Graham, who later
was on Parenthood, was one of the main characters. Pros- The show is nice and
simple. Cons- It seems dragged out, in a way. Note to Parents- I say that it
might be good for most ages, although it has enough in there that wouldn’t be
good for people younger than preteens. Recommendation- I guess that the
original show is good enough, but it is hard to give it that good a rating for
sure. Reception: critically acclaimed. Grade: B-.
Trailer link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTKD7JOMXHs
Thoughts trailer: This is
looking better than what the first trailer was. I’m not sure why someone would
go somewhere without underwear, but that’s just me. This looks quite good and
entertaining. I still haven’t seen much of the first season and might not watch
any of the show beyond that. Hopefully, I can get someone that I know to review
this show for me. If not, then you’ll just awkwardly see this in the blog until
Matt does some other project for me to mention instead. If you want to help me
by posting a review of the revival, just comment on this blog with your review.
Makenzie Vega: She has been
working since The Good Wife ended. She will be doing a TV movie that is a
thriller called Pretty Little Dead Girl. There’s also another TV movie
that she did in postproduction called Tomboy. There’s nothing else new
to report.
Pretty Little Dead Girl: This film appears
to be about someone who got a heart transplant by a cousin of theirs who may
have been killed. It is listed in postproduction, although it doesn’t seem to
have a release date or a trailer yet. It was mentioned as coming out last year,
although the release date is unknown. I may have to remove it from
future updates because of this or list it with cancelled projects. I cannot
find information about this easily and I’m not sure if I can.
Tomboy: This made for TV movie
is listed as in postproduction and has neither a release date nor trailer for it
just yet. It is something that will be out in 2017 according to imdb. It
doesn’t mention so much as a plot to it, so I guess I’ll have to figure that
out for future updates. One can guess that a tomboy is central to the plot.
Alan
Cumming: Here’s an actor who’s known for starring in Broadway plays and
productions. Perhaps you have seen him on the Tony Awards that you always watch
because you can’t afford to see Broadway any other way. It looks like he has a
lot of future projects in the works. There’s at least three for me to track
right now. The first one is called The Surrealist. Another movie that
he’s doing in the future is Battle of the Sexes. The last of the movies
that I see him in is After Louie. A new one that I’ve noticed is called Show
Dogs. That’s a lot of projects to look out for in the future.
The Surrealist: This appears
to be a scripted movie regarding an artist named Salvador Dali. This appears to
be based off of a true story. It looks like he has issues with his wife over
his obsession with the Mona Lisa. There is no release date or trailer
for the movie, and it appears that it doesn’t so much as have a single year of
release on it just yet. Upon doing more research, it might be in development
hell since a source I found with information says that it was planned since at
least the fifth upcoming season of The Good Wife. So hopefully something will
eventually come of this potential project.
Battle of the Sexes: This is
listed as being in postproduction right now. This is also based off of a true
story regarding a tennis match between Billie Jean King and Bobbie Riggs. It
has no trailer or release date as of yet, but it should be coming out in 2017.
We’ll see what happens with that.
After
Louie: This movie is listed as completed. It is a drama of some sort. It
appears to relate to being gay and how it has changed as of today. There is no
release date or trailer for it yet, but it should be out in 2017
sometime. At one point, it had a release date of last year, but that clearly
never happened.
Show
Dogs: This project is listed as filming at the moment. The plot relates to a
police dog going undercover in a dog show competition to prevent some sort of
disaster from happening. It might be live action, although I can’t tell for
sure at the moment. There is no release date or trailer for it yet, but it is
planned for release in 2017.
Zach Grenier: It appears that
he is acting in a movie of some sort. The movie he will be in is called Crown
Heights. This is still the only future project of his that I see him in,
although it appears that he will have a guest appearance in the Good Fight.
Crown
Heights: This is another wrongfully convicted of murder movie that you see from
time to time. I can’t tell whether or not it is a true story it is based off of
just yet. It is set to be released sometime in 2017. It is mentioned as being
released on January 23, 2017, so hopefully I can find out more about it
soon. There is no trailer just yet for this. It is listed as in postproduction.
Matthew
Goode: He has been doing a lot of projects since leaving The Good Wife. I might
as well get to mentioning all of them. The first project is a movie called Allied,
out in theaters now. Other projects he’s done are The Hatton Garden Job,
Magik, and Roadside Picnic. Another new project he’s in is called
Four Kids and it. And he has yet another new project in the works called
Birthmarked. He’s done so much.
Allied:
This looks like a World War II movie. It is based off of a real story. It is
out now as of this update. It is about married assassins, but there are
problems when it is revealed that the woman might be working for the other
side.
Review:
Movie Name- Allied. Genre- It’s a spy, war, and historical (World War II)
drama. Rating- R. Noteworthiness- This is based off of a true story. Description-
A man who is a spy seeks to prove his wife is not a traitor. The Good Wife
Alumni in it- Matthew Goode appears in one scene as someone who the main
character goes to for help. Pros- The movie is interesting. You will probably
not find it to be predictable and will wonder what is going on, which is good.
Cons- It can be confusing and hard to follow. It might not make sense to you.
The beginning of the movie is better than how it ends up concluding. Note to
Parents- Remember that this movie is rated R, which I think was a good rating
for it, even if it just barely qualifies for it in my mind. The f word is used
a lot. There is nudity (boobs and a butt), although all of it is fairly brief.
There is a lot of violence in it, although it isn’t as bloody as it otherwise
could be. Recommendation- I don’t regret watch it, per say, but I’m not sure
that I’d watch it again. This is best described as a watch it once film,
although you might be better off not seeing it at all. IMDB Ranking: 7.2. My
Grade: C-.
The
Hatton Garden Job: The movie is now in postproduction and set for release
sometime in December 2016 in the UK. Does that mean that someone in the US like
me won’t be able to watch it? It has no trailer for it released just yet. More
research into it reveals the plot: it is based off of a true story of a heist
in London that happened in 2015. There are two other potential projects about
the same heist. If this is made first, you’ll have to wonder if the others will
see the light of day. Alternatively, if any of the others get made first, would
this be made? I don’t know if it was released in the UK last year or not, nor
do I know if or when this will be released in the US. I will have to say that
the release date for it is an unknown date.
Magik:
This is an animated movie in the fantasy genre. It looks like it will be a
Canadian film. There is no trailer for it yet, but there is a release date of December
25th, 2016. So it looks like it is one of the many Christmas
releases that some movies probably lean for. This is in postproduction
according to imdb. The plot relates to a father visiting an alternate world to
find his missing kids. Due to the fact that there is no trailer for this still,
I’m going to guess that the release date is unknown and I’m not sure if
this is actually getting made or not.
Roadside
Picnic: Here’s a science fiction show of some sort that was considered by the
WGN network to be a show. Last I checked, it was in preproduction for release
later in 2016. In the show, there are different supernatural zones affects by a
former alien visit. What I can’t tell just yet is if the show is actually
moving forward, or if this was rejected as a pilot. I have the feeling that it
was actually rejected as a pilot, but we’ll see more for sure about that in the
future. I cannot find any information about it in terms of whether or not the
pilot was picked up yet so this will still have its own section until it can be
decided by me whether or not it is moving forward. The release year is now
2017.
Four Kids and it: This looks
like another in a line of kids finding some magical creature film. I liked
these as a kid, although I’m not sure that I’ll still have the same fondness as
an adult. Hopefully I can. There is no trailer of specific release date for it
yet, although 2017 is the year it is set to come out at. I do hope that
they can come up with a better name for it than what they have now.
Birthmarked:
Here’s another Canadian film where I’m not sure if it is coming out sometime in
America. It probably will, but we’ll see for sure later. It is mentioned as
coming out sometime in 2017. The plot is mentioned as scientists trying
to raise kids contrary to how their genes are set up.
Cush Jumbo: In addition to
doing The Good Fight, there’s at least one other project that she is
doing, a short called Toads & Bluebottles. If she’s doing anything
else besides them, I sure can’t find it at the moment. I’m not sure what else
she would be doing besides the TV show she’s in since most people don’t do much
besides the TV shows they do.
The Good Fight:
It will be put on www.cbs.com
and be available to watch on CBS all access to those that want it. It will be
released sometime on February 19th, 2017. More information
will be revealed about it in the future as it becomes available.
Toads & Bluebottles: This
is going to be a ten minute short to be released sometime in 2017.
There’s no trailer or release date for this just yet. I’m not sure how to see
most shorts. I think that most of them are hard to come by. It is listed as in
preproduction. I was able to find the plot: it’s an animated story about
imaginary people doing a life journey in just ten minutes. Will it be good? I
have no idea. I’d have to see it, or at least a trailer for it, to know for
sure.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan: It
appears that he’s in a movie called Desierto. Now I was confused about
whether or not it was a new release. Turn out, it was a foreign film and some
people would have already seen it. But the North American release of the film
had yet to happen. Only that movie is out now. Also, it appears that he joined
the cast of The Walking Dead. Thankfully, while I will not be able to
watch it myself, I do know someone (multiple people, actually) who can review
the show for me. I just hope that someone does something. You can post one
yourself in the comments. There is also another foreign film he did called Solace.
Desierto: This is a thriller,
by the looks of it. It is about people trying to cross from Mexico to America,
but they encounter a huge problem: a racist man who wants to kill them. Jeffrey
is playing the main villain by the looks of it. It is out now as of this
update. What are my thoughts on it? Well, I’d tell you if I could see it.
Trailer link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEt8Mhya3vI
Thoughts on trailer: I’m
honestly not sure if I would be interested in this or not were it not up to me
to review what I can of shows and movies of The Good Wife alumni. That’s not to
say that it would be bad, it just wouldn’t be my type of film. It looks
interesting and dramatic. I’m not sure what expectations I’d have going into
it. But I will watch it and hope that I like it.
Now is the point where I
should post a review of the movie, but I can’t as I am not able to watch this.
If anyone reading this is able to see the movie and wants to do a review of it,
then let me know. In fact, if you want to do that, then just comment on this
post. In the meantime, I’ll see if it ever gets released to DVD so I can
actually watch it.
The Walking Dead: This is a
popular gory cable zombie drama about humans trying to save themselves from
what is known as The Walking Dead. I honestly haven’t seen it, so I don’t know
if it is as good as everyone makes it seem. But I’ll leave that to guest
reviewers of mine to decide for you. Hopefully I get them some point soon so
they can help me. If not, I’ll just mention the show until I do get a guest
review here at some point. This show airs at 9/8 Central on Sundays on AMC.
Solace:
This was a foreign film that is out now as of this update. It is in the
supernatural type thriller film as the heroes in it (one being played by
Jeffery) are hunting an evil psychic with the help of an older, but less
powerful psychic.
Trailer link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lq86v60c_Jo
Thoughts on trailer: This
movie looks interesting, even if it is just a bit cliché. I mean, “how can you
catch someone who sees the future” seems kind of obvious in terms of what could
be done as a plot. But I do think that it would be interesting and hope that it
is actually in a local theater of mine so I can watch it. If not, I’ll just
keep it in this update until I can watch it.
Robert
King: Here is where we switch to writing credits. He and his wife are helping
with The Good Fight. I’m not sure what else they might be doing besides
that. There is nothing else new to report.
The Good Fight:
It will be put on www.cbs.com
and be available to watch on CBS all access to those that want it. It will be
released sometime on February 19th, 2017. More information
will be revealed about it in the future as it becomes available.
Michelle
King: Since she is married to the previous person, it would appear that she
would probably have the same projects in the works as her husband. This section
may be redundant since any similar projects that these people have would be the
same thing and thus have the same information. She is working on The Good Fight.
The Good Fight:
It will be put on www.cbs.com
and be available to watch on CBS all access to those that want it. It will be
released sometime on February 19th, 2017. More information
will be revealed about it in the future as it becomes available.
